Default Exhaust install problem

I installed my new JBA mufflers tonight. They sound great, but the driver side exhaust tip hangs about half an inch low and a quarter of an inch to the left.

Has anyone else had this problem when installing their mufflers? I'm hoping it's an easy fix if anybody knows what the problem might be. If not, I'm gonna have to do some cutting and welding to make it look right.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

I have the Magnaflow's and had a similar issue. It was not perfectly centered in the rear cutout. I had to bend the rods on the muffler to get the perfect fit. I used a vice and a rubber mallet to do bend them just a bit. Just tweak it is small increments and re-fit it. You may only need to adjust the rear rod depending on how far it's off. Just make sure the muffler tip does not touch the platic trim or it will melt it.

I've also read somewhere that one of the rubber bushing holding them up was up-side-down from factory! Aperently it's not as noticeble with the stock mufflers... so check to see they are the same way and hang equaly far down from the chassi...

When mine was done I noticed that when they put the rod in the hanger they did not get it into the proper hole, it was slid in the bottom of the hanger. If I remember mine too was about ¼ too low. Unbolted the hanger slide the rod into the right hole and bolted it back up and now they both hang perfect.

Had the SAME EXACT problem with my MAC system. Solved it by takin' the left off, used a pipe to benf the rear hook INWARD 1 cm. It corrected the clamp angle and all is perfect.

That sounds like what I'm going to have to do. I've tried to turn the bracket different ways, but no beans. I hope to have it resolved tomorrow. Hopefully I won't run into any
problems when I install the long tube headers next week.

Thanks for the help guys.

Yikes!

I have put many exhausts on Mustangs and all "quality" systems are pretty close to begin with and all have had some adjustability WITHOUT bending anything.

As much as they are getting for these systems, I would not want to have to bend anything. If you do, it is not a quality system. Bolt-on means just that. Not fabrication. Call the manufacturer and have them send you a new one. Of course they won't want to, so they will discount it down. Down to the price of system that doesn't fit correctly.

I am buying a MAC system for mine. Their quality is "ok". I don't expect to bend anything.

Maybe I'm a jerk about it, but it isn't that hard to make an Exhaust system that fits correctly.

Sometimes they get bent in the manufacturing or shipping for the muflers. No big deal. Some times it the size of the hanger. Just bend it and enjoy.

JBA has been making muflers for a long time. They are a quality product but sometimes sh*t happens. I bought the JBA's myself and had one that was off a little. They sound real close to the old pony sound.
