Default '05 Mustang steering noise

Ok, so when is FORD going to make a TSB to fix the dang noises from my steering at low speed hard turns. It is getting obnoxious. Anyone heard?

I get those same noises from my front passenger area. Sounds like a pop or something. Always when turning the wheel agressively at a stand-still or at very low speeds. I would imagine no one would be dumb enough to turn that hard at more than about 10mph

I'm gonna take it in eventually...

As of March 10th Ford engineering is investigating the fix for the noise and have instructed dealerships not to try to fix the noise themselves. My Mustang makes the pop noise only occcasionally, so I'm awaiting the "fix" from Ford.
P.S. I'm a Ford dealer tech so I'm staying on top of this, so when I recieve a message from Ford I'll pass it along.

Thanks!

Is it the spring moving/jumping making that noise? My friend had it before he put Eibachs on and now it's 'fixed'!! I cut the springs on my -89 and found the popping... fixed it by putting a 'lock' on the tray so the springs could not twist which led to the jump and pop... ???

Mine has been doing it since day one.

It's on my complaint list. It's a new design, growing pains are to be expected (at least that's what gets me through the day)

Thanks mustangtk.

I already was in the dealer to have the missing flywheel cover bolts installed, lol, and they logged it ( steering noise) in then and said it's under FORD review, this was a few weeks ago and I should have mentioned it in my post. My intent is to find out when FORD will have the fix under warranty. I hope people are not having their dealers micky mouse a fix in the interim. There is no safety issue with this I am told.

I am not sure I want to go through my whole summer listening to a horrible "popping" noise when I turn my wheels at low speed (parking). It sounds cheap and broke, like the springs ends are shifting around but, only a guess, hadn't had time to inspect.

I really am a bit dissapointed that Ford still hasn't said anything, that I know of.

That said, has ANYBODY done something to make that $#@! noise go away??

I took my GT in yesterday for brake noise issues the 2nd time and also asked if there was any news on the rear end whine in an Auto and also the popping noise. Well they said they deglazed the brakes and caught me off guard when they told me they were putting in a new rear end. I asked if it was the same part number as the orginal factory and they said that ford had an upgrade but they did not ellaborate but the whine is gone for the moment. As for the popping, it is the same story that Ford is aware of it and is STILL trying to identify a fix. The new model has been out for around 7months now, you would think they would of figured it out by now and had a fix. It seem like they are stalling for some reason as it was mentioned in this same post that you can install the Eibachs and the problems clear up so from that info, the fix would be to do something with those parts, even if it includes giving putting Eibachs on all our cars. Not that we can expect that....... LOL

I have been hearing the Factory is looking into the issue since December, how hard can it be to figure it out?

I just want the noise to go away.

LOL

I think Ford could fix it with a TSB by tomorrow, to fix it at minimum cost to Ford is a whole other issue. Yeah, I didn't want to mess with my suspension yet, still playing with RWHP but, if it will stop that infernal cheezy "popping" I may break down and do it.

I also have the 05 v6 with several noises including the pop in the front end. Thanks to you guys, now I know what to tell the mechanic when it goes back on Wed along with some kind of raddling on the right side of the car when going over small bumps and allot of sloppy clicking noice when shifting gears. And the engine races real high when stopped at a light before it settles to the normal idle. Never wanted a Ford and now I know why!!!!!!!!!!!!! Been a Chevy woman all my life. My 12yr old truck runs better then this Ford!!!!! I hope we can resolve the problems because I do still love the car at only 3weeks bought.
