Default automatic tranny fluid

has anyone thought of replacing their stock fluid with the AMSoil equivalent?

Just wondering

Yeah, I'm thinking about it, but waiting until 5K+ miles. I've read passing mention the A/T is used in other Ford products so I'll browse the 'net for info and advice before I actually make the change.

Cool

I strongly recommend against changing the ATF from Mercon V. My company does remanuafturing for all of Ford's auto transmissions. They have had issues with solenoid failures due to fluid incompatibility. I own a 05 and I'm sticking with the factory fill until 50,000 miles. The 5R55S is a very different transmission from the 5R55N and 5R55W of the past. Lastly, changing the ATF in a 5R55S is very different from the past. It has to be drained AND filled from the pan. We use specialized equipment to do this.
