How so? If they are flying off the lots and not sitting for very long how could they not be making a killer profit on the sales?
there are not enough being sold, and we're mainly talking about their entire lineup.
The DEALERS make money on mark-ups, not FoMoCo. Not being able to produce enough of their most popular car hurts Ford, but benefits the dealers who'll charge whatever someone's willing to pay (sometimes $10,000 over MSRP, the equivalent of 3 or 4 regular priced cars in one transaction).

Gees, fellas and gals...ya have the whole darn internet....and the dealerships have books....even if some of my fellow salespeople are less than...er....forthright? The Books are there!!
Fact: F150 Engine 4.6> CAST IRON BLOCK AND HEAD
2005 Mustang Engine 4.6 Aluminum Block....lots more than that...but that's why you should at least use Google before you post "I heard"
Fact: Saleen put Tremec and Ford in the same room...what resulted is an automatic AND a 5 speed that don't need to be modified in order to take the stress of 639HP! Warranty in effect...yep...no joke
Fact: I still really like this bouncy ball icon
Fact: The only "dealer" that gets full sticker every time they sell ANYTHING is Ford Motor Company.
If you paid full sticker for every vehicle you ever bought, I assure you that you would get the red carpet treatment every time in the dealership, you would have free service loaners, and a free lunch table in the waiting room and higher resale for your trade...but it would still depreciate according to suppy and demand and quality of build.
I don't understand how someone can go from a sports car to a pickup truck....
It ain't so hard. I go from my Excursion to my GT40 (44" overall height) almost daily ... and vice versa. It's nice having both ... plus the bike ... and my wife's '05 Stang.
BTW ... the Stangs are backing up at the local dealers ... lots are getting full of 'em. Some dealers are adding the GT fog lights & aftermarket wheel/tire combos to help move the V6 models ... of course witha premium price. I know a few guys who got their GTs a good deal below sticker.
I must have done something right, because I bought my V6 for $2200 under sticker price.

06 V6 Pony Package. Bone Stock (for now...) | VTEC = Enjoy all the lag of a turbo with none of the horsepower.
I would normally fly into the "big city", Honolulu, to buy a new car because what I would save on the purchase price there more than pays for having it barged to Hilo. And I did go there to price GTs. I was delighted to find that the dealer in my home town was willing to order an '06 GT at MSRP for me with the options that I selected.
My explanation: My local dealer sells few passenger vehicles and a lot of trucks. He does not have a lot of demand for the Mustang GTs.
IMO, Location of the dealership is the key.

i picked up my f150 yesterday from bob moore ford in okc for a recall, i counted 11 GTs on thier lot and a whole row of v6s. coupes, verts, i even looked at a black gt that had the 1000 in it. i asked one salesman if they were selling for sticker and he said yes, and v6's a little under. he still wouldnt do an x-plan though ... at any rate, there didnt seem to be such a supply and demand issue there.... glad i already have mine.... no need to worry about such things...
Lots and lots of people have gotten their Mustang GTs under MSRP. I got mine under invoice. Granted, the sticker on the car I bought originally said roughly $6,000 above MSRP, but all I had to do was walk out of the dealership a couple times and they worked right down to my number.
