I had posted in the past about problems with rear brake squeel I am having with my GT. I have had it at my dealer 3 times now and thought it was fixed until today when I heard it again. The 1st time they messed with the front brakes, the 2nd I am not sure what they did as it was not noticable nor fixed. The 3rd time all they said they did was deglaze the pads and spray some BX squeel stop and when asked if they did anything to the rotors or the calipers they said now. However when I got hom after piccking it up I notice that they either replaced the rear rotors or turned them on a machine as it was obvious, I left a message for the Service Mgr asking what exactly they did and he never called back. Well I am hearing them again and was wondering if anyone else out there has had problems and if so what did you do to finally get them fixed. I am getting fed up with my dealer but not wanting to pay a real brake place to fix it when they are under warrenty as the car only has 2600 miles and brakes should not be noisey with that few of miles.
I am having the exact same problems. My brakes squeak all the time and it is pain in the $#%. I have taken my 2005 GT to Mac Haik ford twice and they will not event take the wheels off to look at the brakes since they said that the squeaking brakes is normal.
What dealership did you go too?
If you find anything out let me know and I will do the same.
My rear brakes also squeal at a certain brake pedal pressure - have had it in once to the dealer and they fixed if for a couple weeks, but the noise has since returned. It is annoying!

I have the same problem and am considering replacing the pads. Should the pads be replaced on the front and rear, or can I get away with a different type on the rear only? Also, should I turn the rotors or leave em alone. I have about 2500 miles on the Stang so far.
hello Tod, you said Mac Haik, are you referring to the dealership in Georgetown or another city that he has dealerships across Texas. I bought my GT from Covert Ford in Austin and took it there 3 times already for the brake problems. I am not sure what to do next as their fixes will last maybe a week and it is back again. I am also thinking about putting on new pads or taking to a brake specialist place and then taking the bill to the dealership and get reimbursed.
My front and rear breaks make noise...the right front in particular. I have had it in and get told the same thing every time, they need a break in period. I have over 5500 miles on the car...if they ain't broke in by now they won't be. I am looking at replacing them this summer.

Some of the major magazines which reviewed the GT had only one complaint. . .the BRAKES. . .not that they were noisy but that they did not stop the car in what they believed was a distance acceptable by the rest of the GT's standards. I plan on replacing my brakes also. Anynoe got any recommendations?
Hey all,
The only brake upgrade I've ever done was on my Yukon Denali. I put on the power slot rotors w/ hawk pads. It was like butter. It felt awesome on the foot when you braked. I only put about 1k miles on them though. Traded it in for the GT!
Yes, I took my car to the MacHaik in Georgetown and they would not even look at the brakes. I wish i could find some pads that I could buy to replace the existing ones. It is embarassing to see the looks you get when people see you pulling up and then they hear your brakes squeak so bad.
I am going to try another dealership and see if they will spring for a higher quality pad.
I went to my dealership and they fixed it no fee...... They said it was the "glaze" on the brakes and all they needed to do was sand it off...... Now, I'm no brake expert but now my brakes dont make that annoying noise everytime I stop... Already have 4600 miles on my baby....

Well, I am getting a very loud squeel from one of my rear brakes. 1500 miles on the car. It has done it almost since we drove it off the lot. I wanted to give them time break in, but it is getting loud and worse by the day.
This is not normal. And they will fix it. I don't want them turning my rotors. the rear rotors of Mustangs, you normally only get one turn out of them.
The brakes on the 05 Mustangs are pretty good. Equal almost to the Cobra brakes of late. The brakes everyone likes to upgrade too. Ask the Fox mustang guys about brakes. Trust me, these brakes are good. I don't see any new braking systems coming anytime soon.
Now, upgrading the pads isn't a bad idea. I use Hawks on my Cobra and love them. Since Hawk is into racing, and the new Mustang is being raced on the road courses, chances are good they will have them.
Lets keep this thread going. I want to see if this brake problem is a big issue that maybe Ford should address.

I get a slight squeal I think from the right rear, but it is slight and hard to tell. It has been intermittent from day one (1400 miles now). I have noticed that an adjustment of pressure on the pedal (either softer or harder) and it goes away...for a while. Sure is annoying on a brand new car. We shouldn't have to have brakes replaced for 40,000 miles...should we?
My brakes Squeak too, so I had the dealer check it out at the sametime they replaced my gas tank under warrenty. Well they gave it back to me, said they sanded the rotors and pads. I could easily tell that they really did. However, my brakes started squeaking again on the way home! I called another dealer just for a second opinion, they said, "It's totally normal because ALL the new pads don't contain aspestise anymore, nothing they can do." Now, If this is true, then why doesn't my mom's '05 Corolla have the problem? As well as my friends '02 Dodge RAM and so on... Total BS
I have the same issue with mine. As much as I hate it, I am going to cope. We had the same problem with my wife's car. The dealership kept saying it was completely normal and after 10,000 painful miles it all went away as they told me it would. Besides, I'd rather they work on all the weather stripping peices of my convertible top. I can't believe they are having to replace 3 pieces. AAAGGGHHH! I guess someone was sleeping on the assembley line when mine was put together.
Did anyone ever get a specific answer on the brake squeeling???? I've had mine into the dealer once and they said that it was because the brakes are cold and it would stop when the brakes warm up. Needless to say, they still squeel unless you get on them real hard.
