So I visited my dealer's service department today to try to get the remote window operation re-activated. At first, the person I spoke to had no idea the 2005 Mustang had this feature. I told him that it was part of the active anti-theft package. He had to look it up in the big binder, because it was not in the little guide that is on the showroom floor (it was in the first edition of the guide, but I forgot to bring it.) So we sat in his office and he printed out a form with info on my car. At the bottom it had a note that said: "As of Jan 3, 2005, all Mustangs produced after this date will have the global window operation de-activated". He looks at my production date (3/17/05) and says "Well there you have it, you can't have that feature". So I told him it was BS and that some people (thanks to this website and others) have had theirs re-activated at a dealer and all it takes is a few minutes. Then he calls the Ford technical line to see what can be done. Ford put him on hold for about 15 minutes. Finally when he is finished with them he tells me that the reason it was discontinued was because if water gets down in the door, a sensor will roll the windows down. So he tells me that it can be re-activated, but he will have to speak with his manager on Monday to get approval. Here is the kicker: If I get it done, I have to pay $45 and I have to sign a waiver or something that removes the dealer from any liability. I have to pay $45 for something I already paid for? I don't think so.
So I ask the good people of this community:
1. Has anyone had their windows go up or down spontaneously because of water in the door?
2. Has anyone who had their Mustang built after the cutoff date (1/3/05) had to pay to get their remote window operation re-activated?
3. Can anyone refer me to a dealer in the New Jersey area who can do this for me without the hassle and $45 charge?
4. What is my recourse for paying for something I didn't get? I doubt the dealer will give me anything because this is a Ford issue.
Thanks in advance, I would like to print out any good posts to bring on my next visit to the dealer!

My 05 GT had a build date of 3/7/2005. The active anti-theft (and window) was non-operative. The dealer had no idea what the feature did, even though I purchased it from them!! -- They wanted to send it out to their alarm guy to look at it -- I stopped them cold, told them what the features were supposed to do (thanks to others on the forum who gave the earlier heads up), including the window remote, and they contacted Ford directly. After they were briefed, the service department properly programmed the active system, and were like kids at Christmas when they saw what the system did, and thanked me! Final Score -- your car, including the electronics, is under warranty. They are obligated to do this gratis. When it works, beside the internal motion sensors blaring the horn, lights and disabling the car upon a "security event", you will be able to open the doors and lower both windows simultaneously by either holding the "open" button down for a few seconds or turning the key in the door to open it and keep it in the open direction while the windows go down. You can close the windows and the doors by reversing the process in the door lock. Get this done and don't pay for it. As for water, etc -- B.S.!! Good luck.

This is almost ver batem the same thing that I went through. I had to talk to several different people but finally got somebody to take the car into the garage and hook up their little box and have it re-activated. Cheaptrick, tell that guy to take the $45 and put it where the sun don't shine along with his waiver.

I printed out this web page of Mustang enthusiasts talking about their dealer experiences on getting it to work for them and went to ******* ***** Ford at 1 pm. I walked past ***** (Bitchy Service Managerette who told me before it wasn't gonna happen) and found "Joe" the tech guy who was in charge of the laptop. He hooked it up, read the parameters, found the "Global Windows Down" feature was indeed disabled and he enabled it. Woo-hoo! Too bad ***** (Bitchy Service Managerette) walked out the door on her way to lunch while we were doing this, I wanted to rub her nose in it.
Mine had better work..... thats 99.99% of the reason I ordered it with the anti-theft option. And YES I ordered my Stang from Fred, and I used the OLD sales flyer, and theres NO mention of it in the new ( yellow vert on cover ) flyer.

I think that's a bunch of BS about water in the doors. We have had plenty of rain around here and the car has been in the driveway the last 3 days and my windows haven't rolled down.
I know mine works so I think it may have deen a one time issue for them and they just decided to shut it off 'just in case'
