I had the 1000, series G, and they replaced it with a remanufactured series A. This one skips just as bad if not worse than the last one - it sucks. I've had the new one in for 1.5 months now, and will demand it be replaced again next oil change.

I LOVE your quote and agree 100%. Even with my Shaker problems, I still love my ride. What is the '74'? Date of birth? (I'm 71.)
'74 is indeed the date of birth! I also love my stang, in spite of the few minor glitches. The glitches are the Shaker, fuel tank prob (now fixed), squealing rear brakes (still not fixed and annoying). I was one of the early buyers (11/30/04) and knew I'd kinda be a guinea pig for this new car! I JUST saw my first "other" GT driving around up here today, it was the sonic blue-I waved. The GT's are still very rare in NW WA state.
Cheers!

I just got my Shaker 1000 replaced. No skipping of home burned CD's yet and it really never did to the bought ones. I did notice the new CD player still won't play my downstairs computer burns (set to highest rate) so I lowered my rip speed to 64Kbps and now I'm in like Flynn.
I'll post if anything happens but, for now I'm good imo.

Where'd you see it? It might have been me (sonic blue GT coupe). I was on I-5 between Seattle and Portland today, both ways. Sorry that I missed you, I've looking too and have only seen a red GT, a legend lime GT, and a couple of sharp looking V-6's, in mineral grey and screaming yellow. And if it wasn't me, then there's another happy sonic blue driver in the Great NW.
Py here again. Do you mean they're just following protocol? Maybe they don't tell customers they know about the TSB to rule out something that might just be a fluke? I can kinda understand that. I just seemed like they were playing dumb, then I find out it is a common occurence. Shouldn't they recall the Shakers? I think they should make it right. I have a 5 month old used car. It's not like it's 5 or 10 years old. Same issue with my tint. They kinda insinuate I must have caused the scratches somehow. Come to find out, it is also a common occurence with new mustangs. Having my car serviced causes me anxiety, not because I'm a girl...but because I don't know jack about mechanical issues.
Anyhow. Thanx again for the info.
Py, Knowing about the TSP's is different from service department to service department. In my case after explaining the problem I, as well, got the "deer in the head light" look and it wasn't until I mentioned the TSP that the service manager checked and found it. TSP's are not mandatory recall bulletins and each service department has their own way of keeping up on them. It ranges from waiting till enough people complain to a set schedule of review. If you ask me yes it would make more business sense to check regularly especially on first year models so as you can be on top of problems if and when a customer brings in a car for service. Time is money and we all know how much they get for their time so that may be the driving force behind waiting till customers complains enough. As for "because I don't know jack about mechanical issues" your doing the right thing by reading up on issues and learning. Armed with knowlage gives you the power when dealing with certian issues. :thumbsup

Nope, this was in Whatcom County, up by Canada. In 6 months, I've only seen that one GT, a V6 vert, and 2 other V6's.
Cheers!

I have about 1600 miles on my 'Stang with Shaker 500 as I only drive it on weekends. All I have played are "Home Brew" MP3's (finally...non stop Phil Hendrie). I ran the self check test and the number ends in "A." I understand from the forum that's not good. However I have no complaints as it operates flawlessly. I wonder though if I've got a "time bomb" that will eventually exhibit the problems discussed. I guess my question is are all Shaker 500's ending in "A" bad or are some good and some bad?
first time posting and first time mustang owner. i just purchased 05 mustang screaming yellow premium package gt. i found dealership to be somewhat jerkoffs , i feel you can trust them as far as you can throw them. had my car undercoated company that did the job sprayed mufflers drive shafts and got crap on inside of rims and all over trranny case and on my paint job. all i got in response was "we'll rip up the contract and return your $". that was from a manager i didnt even deal with. guy i bought the car from was cool though he and i cleaned the mufflers and rims and such. 5 hrs later looked almost like it should from beginning.and to top it all off i payed 2500 over and 1800 6yr bb war.i payed 33000 cash and got treated with no respect. they hav a highly desireable car and dont care about the customer.i hope no problems in the future with my car ie shaker1000 tranny, engine you know what i mean. im so pissed and shouldnt be should be happy as hell. i dont even want to take for service there now . great car shxty dealership. hopfully next post will be happier, lol.

As you probably have read through these posts the Serial Numbers ending in "A" was the original Shaker 500/1000 and the ones having the skipping problem. It also seems other series (G, B) have also been bad as well. I drive my GT about 200 miles a day and I listen to a lot of CD's both burned and store bought and all have skipped at one time or another. It started off slow and got worse over time. I hope yours may be one that came from the factory "fixed" before you got her. If not, as you have seen, the series letter at the end of the Part number seems to now have become a mute issue. Some have been "fixed" and the owner has not had another problem and some have had the same if not worse. Personally I feel this may be both hardware (heads) and a software problem (computer program) and getting the combination correct seems to be hit or miss with the radio repair facility. The dealer only orders and replaces the radio they don't fix them so I am sure that they would like to see this issue fixed as well. As I understand it the Mustang is not the only vehicle having this problem. I think I read here that the new F-150's are having them as well which would put credence to the hardware/software as the problem. Hopefully Ford will dump the current supplier and contract with another company who can provide a quality item.

My 500 has also gotten worse over time. I thought I might be able to avoid replacing it, but I think I'm going to have to fall in line with far too many others and get the dealer to put in a new one.
I have never had any problems whatsoever with my Shaker skipping, but it did something interesting yesterday...
I got into the car, turned on the radio....and I got nothing ....so, I switched to the CD, and....got nothing.... I turned the volume up, and I heard the bass part coming out of the subs, but NOTHING out of the speakers.
After a minute, it went back to normal, but that's something I've never even heard of happening to the trouble-prone shakers. Has anyone else had this problem? Is it worth getting it replaced?

Well thats a new one . Haven't heard anyone else so far with that problem. If it continues take her in and get it replaced.
