Wow! I noticed a big difference in shifting there is no lag at all after removing this filter . It took abou 3 minutes with a pair of needle nose pliers and a screw driver. No problem with a check engine light it also has a quicke throttle response. I am also waiting on CDC to send me my shaker hood scoop they calles me yesterday and informed me i should get it in late june. Has anyone else removed the vapor filter? Still having fun and still no problems with gas tank or shaker 500 keep in touch everyone thanks roboha
You have just changed your A/F ratio, at highest rpm's I expect you may see an error code (lean). If not you may have been in a rare "rich" setting and just leveled out. You have appx 5 more RWHP now.

I never had one when i got my car. It was made in Nov.'04 and i got it this last april and i looked and its not there. Also the error code never comes on.

Only the GTs get the vapor filter.... V6's don't...
Removal of the Hydrocarbon trap will make the engine run lean and possibly burn up engine valves. PCM has mixture limit that wont allow enough adjustment when more air flow is sensed. New filter will not hurt it but removing the HC filter puts over the top. I re-tuned mine and was worth the money.
I've also removed my HC trap - no probs and no check engine light.

KevinB is right, with the removal of the HC trap you need a reflash. The stock tune parameters cannot adequately componsate and this may well lead to engine damage in the long run. I am no mech. whiz by any means but I have heard this from several sources now and believe there may well be some truth to it.

Maybe it's the canadien air but when I removed mine and added a K&N drop in filter mine didn't lean out at all. And if it did, the computer was smart enough to rich it up, which is why you need the retune as the computer sees something amiss and attempts to correct it.
Now, throw a CAI kit on it and you'll see lean conditions, but just removing the trap don't do squat to make it too lean.
I picked mine up yesterday, GT built 05-02-05 and the tube from the air cleaner to the engine, no filter thingy? Am I looking in the wrong spot??

Hey Ed, I recall you had the K&N filter, but put back the stock. Did you also remove the HC trap?
I just stopped by Mossy and the service rep tried to sell me the K&N filter but I was hesitant from what you last told me. Wanna get a CAI down the road.
Should be meeting up again after next week (finals).
NOPE not there, I just took the entire hose off from the motor to the air cleaner box, pulled it straight, and filter thingy?? maybe ford forgot to put mine in?? I have near 200 miles on it, and no CEL ?? Strange

I don't have one either. From the factory like this. no CEL either. Just dynoed today. SAE Corrected 264/280 stock. 214/228 actual because of 5000ft elevation Must have Whipple!!!!! Insane power levels must be achieved!!! I bought this car at sea level, so I know how well she runs, got used to that, then had to come home to 5000ft...... Forced induction is the quickest way for power gains up here
