So does the 2006 come with the TPMS, and is not mentioned, or is it just for the fleet ordered mustangs or what?

In the Explorer it was a sensor in the wheel...so if you weren't careful you could damage it when you changed a tire. I think the new ones use the ABS system. When one tire loses pressure it becomes smaller so it would signal a sensor system that it's turning faster...and therefore losing pressure...at least one could hope

Indeed, it is a regulation which forces drivers need to install TPMS on their tires. But I heard Myers sells cheaper but same quality sensors, I heared they are from Orange Maufacture.
And their sensors and volves are seperate, and if one of them broken, you can replace sensor or volve only.
So it will help you save cost, you can try those!

Maybe. But the Ford ones are separate valves from the sensors, so you are actually not saving money. The ones that are attached to valves, but where the valve can be changed separately actually still cost more.
i thought that they were 2007 up if you are trying to see if your car has it drop your air presure 5psi in one tire, i have had mine go off at just 2 psi off, and yes they are pain

Wait a minute. What happens when you put after market wheels/rims on?
My '09 is at the dealer as I write this having new wheels installed. I bought the FRPP chrome Bullitts, & they're taking the sensors off my old rims & putting them on the new ones. They're held on with bands on the inside of the wheels, & the bands usually cannot be reused. The 2010's use a different sensor that the 09 & earlier computer doesn't work with. I believe the 2010 sensor is in the air valve.

My 2006 didn't have them in the stock wheels, nor is there any trouble light since replacing them with aftermarket wheels.
The mustang uses the bands that wrap around the inside of the wheel rather than the ones that go in the valve stem. You can get them for aftermarket wheels or have your trouble light disabled.
