Default Steeda axle back

Hey all,
I just had some time to put on the steeda axle backs. They sound great, but the right side hangs wrong. It's too low and left. The drivers side is dead on. The stock set was also right on. I tried messing around alittle by loosening and re- tightening, but no joy. This is just my usual luck w/ mods

I had the same issue with my Magnaflows. The passenger side was off-center to the right and up too high (was touching the molding). I "tweaked" the rear hanger with a rubber mallet and a vice (didn't touch the front hanger). I made very small adjustments and then re-hung it & repeated until it was perfect. It took two tweaks to get it right but it was easy to do. I bent the hanger up a hair and to the right. Just bend it ever so slightly and take your time.

If you don't feel comfortable with this or feel the product is defective then you may want to return it or take it to a muffler shop.

Good luck.

Hey thanks fin1,
The hangers line up perfect w/ the mounts, so I may have to do some tweaking. I sent off an e-mail to Steeda and will wait for their reply. I feel by bending the hanger to much, it won't go in the mount properly. You can easily push the muffler over in place while it's all tightened, but it springs back out of positoion when you release it.

I have the Steeda Axle Backs also. Mine were dead on and I love their sound...get compliments all the time on how well the car sounds. Call Steeda. They'll make it right.

Hey helifitz,
I got an e-mail from Steeda. I should try a muffler shop for an easy fix to the problem. I think it was welded wrong. I'm having my local service station guy (installed my steeda u/p's) give it a try on Friday. They do sound wicked pissa though I must say :thumbsup

I've got the Steeda Axle backs...no problems and they sound awesome. I also have the Steeda Cold Air kit and my chip has been reprogrammed by SCT. It's way too easy for me to get in trouble now.

I just picked up a Magnaflow cat back last night. Hope to install it this weekend. It will be interesting to see how it fits. I installed a CDC front spoiler the other night and I was very impressed with the quality of fit and manufacturing of the spoiler. It was just like a factory part.
