Default More Tire/wheel questions...

I'm still kicking around new tires & wheels, but I want to be happy with the final results. I want the widest tire I can put on the car without problems, with the highest profile. If I go with 17" x 9" wheels with 45mm offset, could I put 285/40ZR17's all around without rubs/interference?

Hey kd05gt,
You've asked the very question I wanted to. I've decided that I'm not stepping up to 18's and I'm not lowering the car. I'm sick of looking at wheels though. The best price on cragar rims I've found is $225 ea. for 17X9's

sonny1213: Have you considered any tire brands/sizes yet? I cannot seem to get a clear answer on what will look and fit right. I do not want super-low profile sidewalls, and I want all the width I can get on a 17x9 wheel. I am also tired of shopping and anxious to get it done!

Good year eagle F1 gs-d3 nitto555's I have all 18 specs, but now I want the 17's. I don't want the rubber band look either on the tires. Man, in the old days it was easy. Slap the fattest tires on the back and jack it up I went to aol keyword search and put in tire sizes and there's a miata or something site where you can see the tires profile from the side or rear. My kid has a hockey game now. I'm gone.

I guess 285/40's end up being about an inch shorter than the stock tires...not the direction I wanted to go. I do not see any 285's with an aspect ratio greater than 40. Back to the drawing board... Will this ever end?

I went a little more old style... I kept the stock 16 inch rims on my v6 but changed out the rear tires.... went from a 215/65/16 (27 inch OD) to a 265/60/16 (28.5 inch OD). Really filled up the rear wheel well! Talk about LOTS of sidewall! LOL!

I should have said … all I have are 18 specs. on scratch paper by my computer. I had it down to 255/45/18 for tires and 18x9 45mm offset for wheels. The problem is the rear wheels look smaller than the front ones. I rotate my tires and want to keep them all the same size.

Does anyone know if 275/50 17's will fit all the way around without interference? Anyone running this size?
