Default K&N Air Filter vs. CAI

Why should I spend $200+ for a CAI versus a $40 K&N air filter?
The K&N gives an added 5-10HP
The CAI will give an added 8-18HP...

I'm not that great with cars but am I missing something here?
Why spend $150+ more for a few extra horses?

It sounds better!!

In all seriousness, I'm running a K&N drop in filter, no HC, and the 93 octane predator tune. I'm a long ways away from a dyno, but I'm not sure just dropping in the K&N will yield 5-10 RWHP by itself. I'm gonna wait before getting a CAI, probably til a custom tune becomes available for the K&N CAI.

I think you answered your own question: it's a few more horses. In other words, the same reason I'm going to spend $150 or so for underdrive pulleys.
