Vert top and rear defroster

Ok, I noticed that even when the top is down you can turn on the rear defroster. I’d think that if you left it on for a bit, it would damage the material. Anyone else have any thoughts on this? I’m surprised that the defroster can be turned on with the top down

The defroster turns off automatically after ten minutes, so I doubt it would cause any real problems.
