I want to put a "bra" on my 2005 GT. (As of yet, Le Bra doesn't apparently offer full bra, only the hood cover custom for the '05 GT. That's OK, prefer hoodcover only, anyway.)
I like the contrasting look, and especially want to protect the front end from dings tossed up by other cars hitting road debris. Has worked well for me on previous cars.
Anyway, I have a friend who had a '00 GT (and has now upped to '05).
He tells me that using a bra on the Stang 'GT is a bad idea, due to the extra vibration of the V-8, over time the hem of the fabric actually pounds permanent marks into the hood, into the paint. Such was his experience with previous model.
Has any one else had similar experience? Is this a bad idea on the '05 or have "they" fixed/overcome the problem?
Is it worse than letting rocks hit the hood indiscriminately?
Agree - get a clear bra and forget about those leather bras. I've got one on my hood and front fenders, but passed on bumper coverage.
Only downfall to these is that they're really expensive.
Cheers

About $700 for full front coverage (bumper, leading edge of hood and bumpers) with professional installation.

Hi you can do it for less much less, if u are comfortable applying it, then it will cost you under $200 (some people installed there own strips its the same idea/method of installation) or just buy the kit and take it to a shop to install, most tint shops can install it for you. That is if your local 3M installer is asking for too much.
Ebay auction that i found, this seem like the best deal because it "COMES AS A COMPLETE KIT:
- HOOD, FENDER, MIRRORS, AND FRONT BUMPER
- Installation instruction video" Ford Mustang 05-CURR 3M Paint Protection Film Clear Bra
Seller: paintprotectionfilm
It shouldn't cost u anything more than 500 with professional installation
Its really a matter of personal preference. I had a bra on the front end of my 98 Vert for almost two years and never had a single scratch, blemish, or other issue with it. Ultimately the only issue I had with that front end was due to a yoyo in a Crown Vic who removed the front end from the rest of my car.
Personally I like the idea of the invisible bra but would have no issue putting an old fashioned front end mask on my 05...

Thanx,

I appreciate all the comments, and the refernce to the 3M alternative.
However, the question was NOT about the aesthetics of black vs. clear, or bra vs. none. As I said, I like the look of the contrasting nose-piece in black against the all-white/black roof of the car. (Hey, each to his own style, yes?)
I am trying simply to find out whether the GT V-8 vibrations will cause the seams to damage the paint; something that apparently did not happen in installation on other cars (i.e., V-6's) I've had.
