Default How do I get my car to sound like this?

Has anyone seen the black and white video of the '05 GT at the dragstrip? It ran an 11.49, I think. I just installed SLP loudmouths, but I feel a little disappointed. It lacks the deep, bassy, rumble I expected. Instead, it sounds liek it's got glasspacks. What am I missing? Does anyone know what exhaust system is on that GT?

I saw that clip. I have it on my computer I tihnk. Is that the one where he does a burnout first and then jumps up to the line with all those people behind him? If it is, the sound you are heaing might just be distortion on the video. It's not a high quality vid. But then again, I might have watched a diff video.

Yeah, that's the one. Any idea what the guy has? It sounds blown, with JBA everything, including offroad H-pipe...

You know............I'm seeing alot of posts where the owners want that loud-deep bass metelic sound from their exhaust.....

1st.....Get some big tube headers.........

2nd....Run a 2-chamber racing muffler like Flowmasters "Original".....

3rd....Run at least 2 3/4 exhaust piping throughout.....3 inch is better....

4th....Don't run an H-pipe.....that helps in quieting down the exhaust....

5th....Get some Hi-Flow Cat-converters.......

Can the SLP's still contribute to that metallic sound? (I mean, taking out the mufflers completely should help the sound, right?) Maybe I should start over... look into MACs? Back then I remember they had very large piping (Llike 1 5/8" - 1 3/4" primaries, only problem their the material they used was real cheap, and holes would develop within months. Their ceramic coating was worthless, too.

One of peoples only complaints about slp's the tingy/metallic sound.

My Borla catbacks sound great. I can control my sound by how much I stomp on em, I can definitly get attention on them. If I really want dragstrip noise, I would go with LT headers, and X-pipe with no cats or else hi-flos. I am not sure I want that kind of noise on my daily driver.

I have a Corsa exhaust system it really sounds great. They have a web site where you can hear a clip of the system. The web site is www.corsaperf.com

Bassanis, huh? Will look into. Thanks, again. I think I may order their street legal X-pipe, if I can't install their hi-flow cats...
