For acid rain?? ouch. Try using 3m swirl remover for your paint type (light or dark) w/ a porter cable 7424 orbit polisher on 4.5 w/ an orange pad to remove most or all of the marks and prep the surface. Then, if acid rain is common in your area, use synthetic wax/polish w/ a red pad for protection.
Rejex (my 1st choice for acid rain), Blackfire and of course Klasse. http://www.properautocare.com/rempaindefus.html
The article makes it sound very labor intensive, but it is really pretty easy. (It should only take 10 - 15 minutes to do the hood start to finish) Once done, you should have a shine SO deep you can swim in it.
