Default Smoke Headlight Covers

Just bought a pair of those GTS Smoke Headlight Covers. They look pretty awesome on the car however, I can't get them to stay on. They say they just clip on, but the ends pop out after a bit. Anyone else have these and how do you get them to stay?

I had the same problem. Finally just gave them a good push to tuck them under the fender and they have stayed in place since. Do this at your own risk. I am not taking blame if your crack.

goes over top of them. push and it snaps into place, have the hood open is easier. they are a real snug fit. I have the AVS covers as well so they might be different? trust me I was scared to put that kind of force on it but it worked. pics kind of show how they sit under fenser and where clip is on headlight

Yeah, I had the same problem with the GTS covers. It took me a while to figure out that they had to be pushed between the fender and clear plastic covers... HOWEVER, I could NOT get the right side to go in. The gap between the plastic cover and the fender isn't the same on the right side as it was on the left. The space was too small and it wasn't going to fit no matter what I did. Makes me wonder a little about the quallity of the build.

Anyway, I ended up having to return my covers. I wonder if those AVS ones would work any better???

bluebatmobile.com sells smoke tint for 05's and it's pretty easy to install. Did it myself and was relatively inexpensive (was 45$ I think). they look great, even covered the turn signals, which helped a LOT.

Is there a website for the one you bought?

Maybe I'll return the GTS and try the other brands. Thanks for the pics. Mine look about the same, but just like the other GTS buyer, they don't quite go flush to the headlight bay. The corners just keep popping out. I did open the hood to put them on and placed them over the existing clear covers, so at least I'm not missing something there.

Did you have any trouble returning your GTS covers and did you get them on-line? Thanks for the info everyone.

Statement:

The covers do look sharp.

Question:
Are these legal? How does it affect the brightness (effectiveness) of your headlights / turn signals? If it dims them at all why would you want that? I want to make sure I see all I can and that the other guy sees me as best he can.

I do believe they are illegal and are for show or offroad use only. Even a tinted license plate cover is illegal but a lot of people get away with it. I speak for Cali law only from personal experience, since I have been pulled over for it and got a fix it ticket.

I bought mine from Cal-Mustang online. I didn't have any trouble at all returning them. In fact they even paid me back for the shipping.

Heatho, so you had the same problem. Not fitting right and ends popping out?

JDB, That is correct. I couldn't get the right side to stay on no matter what.

I did some investigating and found out that having your headlights, turn signals and / or tail lights covered with anything that reduces their original "effectiveness" / visibility and you get into an accident, your up the creek as far as your insurance coverage goes.

If it's for show, great. But if you intend on leaving them on at night and driving, Sorry......it's just a bad idea. Just my 2 cents worth is all.
