Ok, I have a few questions about the climate control system. I notice the noise that sounds like a loud PSSTT sound every 10 or so seconds that everyone else hears, so I assume that is a normal operation.
When I have the fan on and the AC button is not depressed, I can still hear that PSSTT sound. I thought it only came happened when the AC came on. Does the fan bring in air from the outside or does it use the AC system?
Also, no matter what setting I have the air position on (feet, dash/feet, etc) air always blows out of the windshield vent a little bit. It’s like there is a problem with the ducting or something.
When it’s humid out, I get a lot of fog or hazing on the outside of the windshield at the very base of it in the middle. Does anyone else get this?

hey the other day i got that too, but i accidentally had the defrost on, if it always blows out the dash vent i would take it to the dealer and have them look at it if it really bothers you, but mine doesnt do that so i cant really help you. Sorry

The vent blowing out the dash when set on floor is a known defect, but the dealers don't have a fix yet to my knowledge.
The HVAC in this car has problems. Sometimes it gets stupid and air control goes crazy, window only or no/little vent. I read on another thread about this and to "fix" you shut it off then back on. Happend to me twice now and that worked o.k.
Another issue is poor heater door control where even if heat is set to cool, hot air still seeps out of bottom floor vent. I hope the get a simple fix for this not involving dash removal, else I'll live with it, hate rattles more.
wnewport, that sound "psstt", is it like a vacuum leak? If so have it checked out. And yes, if it's an a/c compressor noise that's normal if mode control is at defrost. You can't turn a/c off in defrost (some have added manual switches).
All cars with a/c will cloud the window first thing on a cool morning. Condensation forms on the a/c evaporator core if the a/c was on when parked overnight. If in defrost when started you can see the mist build up inside the glass. This also causes bacteria/mold to build up over time too.... ...ugh!
is it just me or does anyone else think its hilarious someone from Ontario is talking about an air conditioner? Do ya even use them up there? Lol as for me being just north of austin, texas, since i drove it off the lot its never left the max ac position and usually on close to full blast. Everyday is close to 100 so the ac gets a good workout, if this thing ever breaks there'll be xxxx to pay!!!

Forgot the Igloos... You're joking, right? Please tell me you are.
Amazing.

Yeah... it's really pretty funny. Just checked the weather in Austin... 95F with the humidity. The weather here? Feels like 35C with the humidity which... coincidentally is 95. Funny that.
igloos??? what's an igloo, i've only ever seen those on cartoons and old national geographic shows, didnt know people actually live in them. Also on it being 95 down in Austin, your right we've actually gotten a little rain in the afternoons the past few days so its been fairly cool, lol. just couldnt resist giving a little ribbing though to our neighbors way up north.
My car makes that "psst" noise, too, when the AC is on. I just got mine last week and its always done that. I also assume it's normal.
Thought I'd chime in here on this one. Just got my car a week ago yesterday & noticed for the first time last night the "psst" noise. Kinda freaked me out at first, then I thought I might be driving over leaves that had fallen & dried, but alas that wasn't it either. Noticed it only happened when I had the dial on the A/C heater control over on the cool (blue) side.
The only thing I can think of is condensation buildup from the A/C unit. The day I took delivery of my car I had them put it up on a rack so I could look at the underside of the vehicle. There was a fairly steady drip from the A/C & it was definitely water. If I were to venture a guess... the condensation builds up & drips down onto the transmission or some other component that's rather warm & sizzles like water on a hot grill.
Maybe it's something else... I dunno. I don't get the impression it's something to really worry about... but the A/C unit sure does seem to produce a lot of condensation in my part of the world.
