Hi,
My GT auto transmission whines when I hit 2nd gear under hard acceleration (all other gears are "quiet"). Took it to the dealer, they claim this is normal. Anybody else have this issue? The noise does not really bother me that much, but I want to make sure there isn't a brewing issue.

I haven't noticed a whine in my auto. Of course, you know the auto trans is built in France. (I know, shocked me too!) Could have something to do with it!

Any updates? cause mine has done it since i bought it. now i have 20,500 miles and it still whines

yeah mine does too......it sounds like a whistle kinda. my dads 2007 f250 with the 5.4 also makes this sound. it has the 5 speed torqueshift trans too. his workers beat the heck out of that truck on jobsites and with huge trailers. i think it just makes the noise.

My 07 GT makes the same whistle or whine if you will. It started on my car at 150 miles on the odometer. Only in second, no more how hard on the accelerator you are.

My dealer says their techs don't hear any whine. It kind of sounds like a bearing whine.

I thought I read somewhere that it is a valve (in the trans?) that makes the noise.

Anyone know more about it?

I get a whine from my auto tranny too. I usually hear it at low speeds under light accelleration (like driving in a busy parking lot). I'm not sure right now if it's in 1st or 2nd when it does it. I haven't taken it to the dealer though. Has anyone had any dealer repair work done because of it? It hasn't got any worse so I'm just leaving it alone for now.

I've had a whine to my car as well, so I went to my dealer, they said they didn't hear anything. Then I went to my local mechanic to check it out, he looked at, drove it, and told me that wasn't any problem, said its just how the tranny sounds. I have 13,638 miles on the car, and drive it everyday and I havn't had any problems, so i've pretty much ignored it, and learned to live with it.

Give Tony a call, he's the owner of Larry's Transmissions. He know a lot about these trans and makes mods to them also. He can pretty much tell whats going on by what you tell him, yes he's that good.
