Default Manual Tranny Clunk?

I FINALLY got my new V6. It has less then 200 miles on it but I don't like the feel and sound of the tranny under certain conditions.
I've read a few posts about this problem but have yet to see an answer. This only occurs under medium driving conditions. If I baby it, drawing off the clutch REAL slow (after the free-play zone, of course), it's fine. If I beat on it by reving a bit too much while releasing, it's fine.
But under "normal" driving, the whole car rocks back and forth and produces the clunk. This can not be good for the car and I'm getting tired of trying to change my driving habbits to accomodate the vehicle.
It seems as though there is something "loose", which must be compensated for with special driving.
Can someone please tell me that the dealer can tighten up a couple bolts and send me on my way without a clunk?

Thanks,

I heard from a bunch of guys on here actually. They said it's a normal sound as a result of a sloppy shift. I don't know if any1 can do anything, but if you talk to yur dealer and he says otherwise, let us know.

That's weird. I've driven a few manual trannies (including an awesome '79? Mustang II 6cyl.) and never had this trouble.

Can someone describe some good pointers for shifting? What RPM's are best? Better to downshift or coast when slowing? Better to rev up a bit when downshifting?

I'm trying to teach my wife to drive the car... breaking both of them in at the same time!

I don't remember experiencing this in the 05 I test drove. Maybe you just have to know how to drive a manual. j/k Seriously though, if I experience this in my 06, I'm going to be peeved. Nothing worse than a tricky stick.

i had that same problem, im not sure wether its normal or not, but i did find a way to keep it from clunking so bad, i give it more gas when letting of the clutch, it seems to keep it smoother, and downshifting just be real easy on the clutch. it seems like once u get to where the friction point is, u have to let off fairly carefully to get rid of the clunk n jerk. it took me a while to figure it out, even thought it still does it sometimes
