I called the service department at mr Ford dealer and they said they haven't had any problems with the fill-up at the pump and premature shut-off. I find that hard to believe since i was number 18 in line for a stang back in Feb. I have to imagine one of those 18 had to have the fill-up problem too. They said they would look at it anyway. Doesn't Ford tell all the dealers about the TSB's? Has any1 else experienced a dealer that had no clue about the fill-up problem?

my two cents is that they don't want to do the work...if possible, i'd just show up at the dealer with the TSB in hand (grab it from the sticky thread at the top of the main page), and then see what they do. If they still resist, you'd be amazed at how a loud, complaining voice on a sales floor can prompt action.

Thanks! Is there an official document on the Ford site that says that? Just want it to look like a legit memo, so the dealer doesn't think I made it up.

The TSB says vehicles built prior to 4/26/05. BUT, mine was built 6/08/05 and had the fill-up problem. My service advisor knew about the problem and had a new tank on order before I was even handed my new babys' keys!

There won't be an "official" memo since TSBs are supposed to be an internal-only Ford document not available to the public.
I think you'll be fine with just the TSB number and verbiage...the dealer will have a hard time refuting the existance of the TSB if you've got the number.

The TSB number doesn't match the one mentioned above, but this is number they use to fix mine. However, after my fuel tank was replaced I no longer had the rapid shutoff problem, instead I was unable to fill up past 3/4. They replaced the 2 fuel sending units that connect with the tank and I haven't had anymore problems.
Thanks. Just wish the dealer new about it so he could go ahead and order the part. Now I have to wait 1 week before I can bring it in, then probably another 2 weeks to get the part. Just a hassle....I'll definately bring a printout of the TSB though

It should not take 2 weeks. My new tank arrived the next day! Woohoo! Unfortunately, I couldn't take it in for a week due to travel committments. She fills up just fine now.
One thing I noticed that was NEW, there is a (although small) overflow/spill device now around the filler neck where there wasn't one before. I thought it odd that I had to be oh-so-careful to keep from spilling fuel all over the paint.

How do we find the build dates of our cars...thanks
It should say on the decal on the drivers side door well.

All TSBs are public knowledge. You can go to the NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) Website and pull up all known TSBs.
? The TSB say's car's built prior to 4/26 and your ride was built in June Twoscoops? I can't see them using old tanks knowing that they may have to remove and replace it under warranty, that would be pricer, Even if they did want to use up any leftover old style tanks they would have used them all by June given the big numbers of new stangs being built?

Make sure you have the dealer order a "NEW" fuel tank heat shield. The new tank does not come with the shield and the tech has to try remove the old one which is glued on. Most of the shields are cracked and damaged when removed.
The part number that my dealer used is 5R3Z 9A032 BA
This is a special order part and may take a few weeks to get. Have this done at the same time the tank is replaced so that you dont have to go back twice for the same job. Also take the car in with a little fuel in the tank as you dare. The tech has to remove the fuel before dropping the tank and I found that I did not get all of the fuel back. Went in with 1/2 a tank and left with a 1/4.
