Question Attention Vert Owners...

Hey fellow drop-toppers. Got a question. I have not had a single problem with my top until a couple of days ago. Now, whenever I hit a bump in the road, the top rattles like crazy at the drivers side header area. Anyone else experience this? Any known fixes? Or, do I just live with it?

Funny mine just started to do the same thing this week, and if I'm not mistaking yours and mine got built around the same time (June). I have about 2,000 miles on mine and up to last week there was no rattle at all....
I'd be also curious to find out if othrs have the same issue.

BTW, I did a test this morning and it seems that if I leave my driver's window slighltly open it's not doing it as much, but I need to confirm this !

Mine was built 9 June and yes I get a rattle near the latch on the drivers side. It seems to come and go but is just loud enough to be annoying. My guess is that it is the pin rattling in the socket. I don't think there is anything else up there to rattle.

2400 Hard miles on the pny- occasional rattle on the passenger side toward the back, and a huge THUNK when the back passenger window is raised, but so far that's all.. of course these rough texas roads could knock the teeth out of your head if you're not watching the potholes!

Built 6/20, nothing yet. I guess I should say that she never goes out with the top up, though (only sees the best of weather). Still only 400 or so miles on the beast.

4000 miles and yes major rattle from top. Took it to Ford and they had to call in top shop guys. There are a line of screws that hold the forward rigid portion of the top. The screws had loosened and made that panel start to move slightly. Most noticeable at highway speeds in traffic. Lots of buffeting and rattling. Deals said the top shop removed the entire top in order to gain access, but said removing top on 05 was a snap compared to earlier models.

Vic, I see your problem. You've got a cantaloupe stuck on your windshield! Seriously, my 06 vert is on order so you guys need to figure out what is wrong and report it so my car comes to me nice and fixed.

Hey All,
When I bought my GT Vert last month, I immediately noticed that the passenger side latch mount was loose. I took it in, and discovered that Ford had forgot to install all of the bolts in the mount (on the windshield). Had new bolts installed, fixed the loose mount and no rattles. It may be be you all are experiencing loose bolts in the mounts (either driver and/or passenger sides).

Must be nice to be able to leave the top down. Here in good 'ol north Texas, the only time I've been able to put 'er down is in the late evening when the temp drops to 90 or so, or in the early morning before 9am. I can't wait until fall/winter/spring, the only time it's NOT 100+ degrees!

Hey mrvandermey... Good suggestion, but not the problem. That is one of the first areas I checked before asking the question. All bolts present and accounted for and tight. At least this car doesn't sound like it's going to shake apart like the old Fiat 124 Spyder convertible I once owned.

This seems to be my problem. I put the top down this morning and reached up and pulled on the mount and it is not loose exactly but it did click against something.

Well with a whopping 350 miles I can't report any problems .

Even though I bought my car in May it was 6 weeks to deliver it & 2 weeks in the shop for mods so 2 out of 3 months I didn't have the car.

Either the top latches loosened up or I'm more proficient in open & closing the top.

No rattles yet. The side windows THUNK when put up w/the top down.

Also have gotten the first skip from the shaker 1000 but I just assume live w/it rather than let the dealer tear apart the dash.

Compared with my history of 60's & early 70's muscle , this car is like a limo in comparison. :thumbsup
