I believe JBA was the first company to come out with long tubes for our cars so of course they'll charge an @ss load for them, and I've only found Kooks as a kit and they don't look all that great to me, sorry. I know that Holley has been around for a long time, so i'm sure they're products aren't bad. Also, paying more for something doesn't always mean its better, sorry.:thumbsup

Heres a link to the Kooks Kit
http://www.kookscustomheaders.com/pr...2iyawm956v.jpg
I didnt say there were better just because of price. The price difference is a reflection of something.
as KJ said, its most likely material. I wanted to go stainless so it would not rust. Also one thing that got me to choose the JBAs over the kooks is that the JBAs are longer and is coated. Plus I got a catted H-pipe with my and all installation hardware. Only thing I had to purchase seperate from the kit was O2 extensions.

I really really didn't want rusty header on my new 'Stang.

Plus I didnt like where the Kooks put the Cats and they sacrafice more ground clearance. The JBAs cost me zero ground clearance except for how I chose to install the headers to H-pipe clamp... which is just extra bolt hanging off that I could chose to trim off if need be.

I did a lot of research before I purchased, and believe me... Kooks has a great reputation and many people are happy with them. Just not on the stangs but other cars as well. Also as I understand it, due to the shorter length you don't have to lift the motor to put them in, but that didnt matter because I was replacing my engine mounts anyways to prevent deflection.

Ther is a lot of info on here on it, plus if you search I made a few post while goign through the process.

Cool Keith, you're gonna likey!! ZEX too or is that for later?

Well said Kyle, I'd just like to add that the Kooks are also complete with an X (the X versus H is another discussion) reaching all the way to the stock (or AM) cat-backs. Plus you get the O2 extenders with the Kooks system! :thumbsup

Kyle F-

How much did you pay for the long tubes and H-pipe? Did you go ceramic or just stainless? I've found the Ceramic long tubes, with off road H-pipe for $909 shipped from RPMOutlet.com (not advertising). Just wondering if this was a good deal? Ninosport wants $1069 for the same thing.

alright, I have had my Hooker Long Tubes in since the begining of November and I have had no problems with them at all, especially any "rusting".

Mind you, I drive around with no cats and no mufflers.

If you have questions about quality ask me, I know from experience.

Thanks Dan,

There you have it guys! Also, Dan, did you NEED the new engine mounts to fit the headers?

And do you know if there was a gain from the TB spacer? How much was the fuel line plumbing and install?

Thanks,

all that upgraded plumbing, more dedicated fuel delivery and fuel rails set me back about $800. When Im ready to toss in a second pump to the tank, Im already halfway there. I do all my own work besides welding on the suspension and the custom nitrous bottle shelf in the trunk.

I did not NEED new engine mounts but I wanted to get new ones cause I knew my old ones were getting worn out a bit. Clearance is the same with the Prothane Mounts over the stock hydro-donuts.

I have not yet dynoed any gain from the spacer but it did remove throttle lag.
