Default Cigarette Lighter Power Stop (help)

hello. i have a question. i have a powerinverter plugged into the cigarette lighter plug in the center console. is there a way that this cigarette plug drops power when you turn off the car instead of it always giving out power?

basically i want to leave the power inverter on. when i turn on the car it comes on, when i turn off the car it stops. is there a way to do this, besides always having to remember to unplug the inverter?

thanks for any help.

There is a power outlet in the center console that is always on.

He's asking if there is a way to make one not always on. I too have wanted this for the upper center power outlet. My radar detector is plugged in there and I wish the outlet shut off with the car. My wife ALWAYS forgets to shut the detector off when she drives the car. I just know I'm going to go out and have a dead battery one of these days.

Default yall are mean

Yall are mean! No, unfortunately, there is no way, except to do some minor rewiring. You could tap one of the two empty fuse slots in the box, one is always on, one is ignition controlled, and run that to an outlet cord thingy to plug stuff into. But there isnt a way to switch what is there without rewiring. Sorry

I checked on the forum and can't find it but I remeember reading that this outlet shutdown by itself after a couple of minutes, similar to the delay for the headlights (as you know our headlights turn off automatically after 5 min or somenthing like this).

Try it.
