I want to install a trunk lid switch to operate the trunk without the keyfob. I ordered the button (switch) from a 97 mustang. Does anyone have any idea which wires I need to splice into to make this work? Any info would be greatly appreciated.
That was on my list of projects for the Winter, then my co-workers convinced me it was a waste of time since I can open the trunk with the remote. OK, that was easy. Except I'm out in my garage (75-ft) behind the house and I want to put something in the trunk, and I don't have my keys, so I have to walk back to the house and get the keys and walk back to the garage.....but I put it on hold, and try to take my keys with me when I go to the garage. Then last week, as I was leaving the house, I backed the Mustang out past the gates and put the parking brake on, engine running, like I always do, got out to close the gates, then went to get back into the car. Somehow I had locked the doors with the car running! Luckily I was still home, and went inside to get the second set of keys. But I never felt so stupid. So now I'm going to get the exterior touch-pad like the one on my Exploder, and mount it on the black plastic beneath the drivers wiper arm. Then I can do whatever I want! Open, Lock, Pop the trunk!!!! Am I crazy or what?

How does the stick-on touch pad work? I'm assuming it has a battery inside it. Is it a flat "hearing aid" type? How thick is the stick-on? Any weathering problems? Any feedback on battery life?
I suggest geting a switch from a junk yard donor, that way you can get the connector as well. When I odered a switch from Ford, they could not furnish a connector. Ended up in the salvage yard anyway, grabbed about 6 or 7 set-ups from assorted Ford Crown Vics and Licoln TC's. (sorry already passed them along) Simply connect one side of the switch to ground (10mm bolt right behind the glove box door) and run a second wire down the passenger side kick panel, below the sill plate and tap into the small wht wite with thin pink stripe, which is contained in the large wire bundle under the sill plate. It's that simple.

It's completely self-contained and battery powered. Supposedly battery lasts for many years. It's not the hard-wired piece found on factory installs. It is weather-proof.
