Question Question about a suspension/panhard bar?

Where exactly does a panhard bar attach to. All I know is it is attached to the rear axle and works to keep the axle in place. But what part of the axle does it actually connect to? Is it very difficult to install, or is it best left to the professionals? Just a footnote, I have ordered a Saleen suspension/lowering kit and an aluminum adjustable panhard bar. I was wondering, since I have limited mechanic skills, should I just let a suspension shop install the suspension kit and the panhard bar or is this something a novice could do (both the suspension & panhard bar)?

Well accoding to Eibach's website, you should not attempt that install if you don't know what youre doing. They said each spring stores more than 1000lbs of dynamic energy. I don't think you would wanna mess with it.

"Is it allowed to do the installation of the springs by myself?
NO!! We absolutely warn to install springs without the proper equipment plus the experience of a professional work-shop. A compressed spring usually stores more than 500kg (> 1000 lbs) of dynamic energy! Unintentional release is absolutely dangerous."

Based on this information, I should have a professional install the suspension/lowering kit, and while I am at it, it would probably more efficient to go ahead and have the panhard bar installed at the same time, correct? Pretty much what I thought.

I think most weekend mechanics can install the suspension parts themselves. I did. However, YOU MUST HAVE THE PROPER TOOL TO COMPRESS THE SPRINGS ON THE FRONT STRUTS. It would be very dangerous otherwise. If you have a mechanic to it for you, have him do the Panhard bar at the same time since it will be so simple while replacing the other suspension parts.

No offense ,but it doesn't sound like you should try this yourself. The rear springs and panhard bar are pretty basic. The front springs require quite a more work and can be very dangerous if done wrong. Best bet for you is to shop around and see who will give you the best price. You will also need to get an alignment after all is said and done. Note: Don't use cam bolts for the front struts. Have the tech notch out the factory struts so they can be adjusted. I do know one thing,You will love the look.

No worries, no offense taken. I am self admittedly NOT a mechanic. I am lucky if I can install a shorty antenna myself. I think you all have convinced me that it is better (or at least in my case) to pay someone to do the installation correctly. Besides it looks like the shop may be able to install everything at once. I just ordered the Saleen suspension/lowering kit (waiting for it to arrive), a Baer 14" rotor kit for all for corners (waiting for arrival), an aluminum ajustable panhard bar, an aluminum strut tower brace (Strange Development), and looking to order new rear end gears (either 3.73 or 3.90), so I will just have the shop do it all at one time in additon to a front end alignment and new tires, it may cost a pretty penny, but at least I will be assured that most likely it will be done correctly.
