Any problem using staggered tire sizes front and rear?
Ok, been pouring over different tires for weeks now trying to decide what I want. I was thinking something like BFG g-force t/a kdws 255/50/17's on the back to give me a wide tire with the correct speedo, and something like Hankook Ventus R-s2 z212 245/45/17 on the front for some seriously sticky turns.
Now I ran across an article in 5.0 Mustang magazine (May 06, pg 152) where they talk about having to reflash the ECU on an 05 because the 245/45/17 drag radials they were using on the rear were causing the ECU to go into "limp home" mode.
Has anyone experienced this? Do you think I would have this problem by using a proper sized rear and a smaller front? I think it could possibly cause and issue with TCS.
275s require a minium of a 9 inch wide rim and the 2005 factorys are 8 inch wide. PLus dont forget the construction of a racing slick is different from a radial street tire.
Plus the only problems you may encounter with staggered tires is that the speedometer might be off because the tires overall diameter might be changed
and frank99ta no one makes a 275 tire with a 50mm side wall biggest ive ever seen is 40 (and i looked on nittos site)

I have Nitto 450's, 275/50, all four corners, on 9" wheels.
Just go out to discount tire or any other on line tire store and use the tire size calculator. You can match tire sizes close enough to keep from reflashing.

Some people are like Slinkies. They're really good for nothing. But they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs.

Yeah, there are tires that will fit without reflashing, the problem is finding the best extreme high performance that fit. It's like having to settle for second best.
For aggressive driving and also dry road racing conditions I use bf Goodrich 285/40/18s ALL the way around. They are awesome and I always use Tire Rack for the best price and delivery.
