Any issue with plastic warping on the JLT 2 intake?
Any1 ever notice any signs of warping on the plastic intake tube during those hot summer months? Was just reading a review of that intake and it said the reviewers might be a little concerned...

I can't imagine there would be any more warping caused from the hot summer months as opposed to any other day ... the amount of heat that is created under the hood is pretty hot itself ... so i would think that if it was going to warp it would have by now ... but, i could be wrong ... i guess just take that same type pvc pipe and cook it in a oven for 250 degrees or something ... you would get your answer
The other thing i would like to note is that as you drive the air that is forced into the engine bay also cools of the intake tube. The only time it would get much hotter is if you are in traffic on a really hot day ... then tends to create some excessive heat in the engine bay ... but, that can only get (if i remember correctly) another 50 degrees warmer before your engine over heats. So i would say ... ehh ... on this theory ... and if this was true ... wouldn't they have found out the answer a long time ago, since intakes have been made out of the same material before.

91 Jeep Cherokee. It's my piece that I have to constantly fix, but can't justify getting rid of it, even with the woman harping on me that it's a waste of money. Do you hear me yelling at her for buying towels that I can't touch, cause it's "Decorative"?

That's all true. I didn't tihnk of that. Then again, maybe I don't have to worry too much since I'm not in the deep south or anything.

Some of the initial JLT's back in early 2005 were seeing some warpage issues. This was determined to be caused by the heat and the customers tightening down the filter too much. What happened was that the filter would work loose over time (due to heating up and the lip would warp a bit), then the customers would retighten the filter down. Over repeated sessions, the tightening and heating would eventually warp the lip on the JLT (I not II).
Jay had some inserts milled and they are now included in the new JLT II's. So far, no warpage issues over almost a year of use.
Mind you that not everyone had issues with the original. But regardless of the issues, Jay supported the customers sa far as to ship out an insert at no charge for those that did have issues.
I have had mine for well over a year now and no issues what so ever.
