Default Staggering front and rear tires

I know a similar thread was started awhile ago. But I have question, I have 20" x 9" wheels on all four corners. I like the wheels so I am likely to keep them. Is there any advantage to stagger the front and rear tires if the rims are all the smae size? The dealer put a lousy choice of tires on my car when they installed the rims, the tire size is 245/40ZR20. I have heard many things about staggering the tires, but am not sure of the real reason to do so. At the very least, I want a much more aggressive and wider footprint. I know I want to get for the rear tires 275/35ZR20, but in the front, I am not sure if I should go the same size or go with 255/35ZR20. Any advice or opinions?

I don't know if there will be any differences as far as drive ability. I just ordered 18x9 chrome bullits with 255/45ZR-18 for the front with a 34 degree offset and I am putting 18x10's on the back with a 45 degree offset and a 285/40ZR-18 tire. I went to discount tire and the computer said you could put a 295 on the back. As far as rim I don't know. I have seen a couple Mustangs with the staggered rims and I love the stance. It's a good retro look. I should have them by Wednesday or Thursday. Good thing about going through Discount, if they don't fit correctly, they will do what it takes to fit with no extra charge. I can't wait. I have a 05 GT Redfire Premium with the red interior so I am looking forward to seeing how the chome stands out on it.
good luck, Duane

Personally, I would not stagger the tires on a Mustang unless I was only drag racing.

If I had to stagger the tires for something other than drag racing, I would put the wider tires on the front. The Mustang understeers a good bit and I'm more interested in increasing front grip than I am about increasing rear grip.

Although 275 tires will go onto a 9" wheel, a 10" wheel would be a better choice. The idea is to have an optimal sidewall angle.

That I understand, but the problem I have is I already have the 9" wheel, and I really like them. If I were to have a 10" wheel, I think I would go to a 285. I really do not care to spend another $2K on new tires and wheels, but I will weigh my options.

We all have to make choices base upon our budget. That's why I don't drive a M-FR500-C Mustang.
