Default Jumping out of first gear

Has anyone had problems with their GT poping out of first when you take off. Mine jumpped out hard this AM while taking off from a light. I thought I didn't have it fully in first. Then a couple of miles later it did it again. I've had the car over a week and have put over 500mi of city driving and have not had this problem till today. Any ideas?

I think if you don't fully have it in first the tranny might kick it out of first i you started driving with it halfway in.

If the shifter is fully engaged, then there's a problem either with the linkage, or with the tranny. Have the dealer take care of it.

When I first had mine, I had the same problem a few times. In all honesty, I attributed it to not fully engaging first (it had been a number of years since I owned a standard, so I was a little rusty).

I've found that under certain conditions, engaging first can be a littly "notchy" and that I wasn't fully pushing the shift forward. I haven't had it happen in a long time.

My 91GT had the same problem. It was my 3rd gear...had a chipped tooth on the gear and had to rebuild the tranny.

If its under load, I would have to assume its in the tranny, but possibly a linkage issue. Though if you dont have it in any other gears.. Probably in the tranny.

Go back to the dealer ASAP before it granades.
