I have the C and L street intake system on my 05 GT and I am using the 93 octane tune from C&L with 2 degrees removed from the global spark since I am running 91 octane. Is there a better tune out there?? I wrote an email to bamachips, but then I realized that their site only has the xcalibrator on it.
If you're using the DiabloSport Predator for your tune, I think you will find that you don't have many choices or after sale support. It is pretty much "use the canned tune or find someone who can do a custom tune on a dyno for you". That is the reason that I sold my Predator and bought a SCT Xcal. Then you can get the good tunes through email from people like Doug at Bamachips.

Is that something wrong with your current tune? Have you tried downloading and updating your Predator with the latest updated version of the Predaor firmware? For a "U"niversal Predator like you have the latest firmware release is R28. You can see the firmware version on one of the menus along with the calibration ID#.
If you do not have the latest version I highy recommend that you download and install it! I've got a Steeda version Predator that I bought with the Steeda CAI kit a year ago. Back then the MAF housing was only 85mm. I recently updated my CAI to the current version 90mm MAF housing which needless to say required a new tune. I downloaded the latest version of all the Steeda Predator software (verion R26), and updated the car's ECU.
WOW! What a difference it made in the car's throttle response and power. My milage went down slightly but MAN is the engine sharp now. The engine response to throttle is much better than the original Predator tune for the 90mm MAF! This new firmware release and new tunes along with the 90mm MAF CAI kit and Predator tuner are now good for 30RWHP. Based on the solid 25RWHP I got with the old 85mm MAF I don't doubt the 30RWHP claim for a second. Try it! Download the latest firmware for your version Predator, update your Predator and flash your ECU. The latest versions of the Predator firmware and custom are much improved, at least for the Steeda Predator.
Hey, I'm running The Steeda 93 octane CAI tune with 2 degrees global advance and 6% more advance 4,000RPM and up. It may be that the Steeda tune is conservative and the Conoco 91 octane is good stuff. No pinging even on hot days. Are you having problems with pinging?
Try the new revision stock tunes for the C&L you may be surprised. When I had my car custom tuned on the dyno using the 85mm MAF and the R12 firmware we could not find more than 5RWHP at the power peak. We did find more power and torque in the mid-range and it was usable torque too but overall the old canned tune was already very good. The new R26 firmware and the improved tunes are much better than the old tunes.
Hope this helps!
Cheers

Doh! I wish I knew that before I bought the predator/C&L combo. I could have bought it with an SCT. Ah well hopefully the stock stuff works well enough.
So if I get the latest codes from Diablo they'll have the 87, 91 and 93 octane C&L tunes on there right?

Thanks man, I have my Predator updated to the latest revision, i think is r28, and I did manage to load the 91 octane tune into my car. when you say that you updated your car's ecu, what exactly do you mean?? is there a way to upgrade the firmware in the car?? I felt the 93 octane tune even with the global spark back 2 degrees, was less responsive than the 91 octane tune. I just want to get the most out of the tune, without causing any engine damage, or NVH. Thanks for all the input!!

Sportspix,
I have the old version Steeda CAI as well. I just bought a new Predator from Steeda with all the 90mm tunes. Did you have to purchase a new CAI or will they just sell you the 90mm MAF? How much? If I don't have to buy a new filter and "box" I don't want to.

You're running a 93 octane tune plus timing on California swill? That's impressive. I tried the MD 93 octane tune (since that is all they sent me) on 91 plus Outlaw Octane Booster and and had severe death rattle the first time I went WOT. It occured right at peak torque.
Both tuners will work well if you can find the right shop to do a custom dyno tune. Short of that you have to buy a tuner with canned tunes for the particular CAI kit you have or find a dealer who sells the CAI and tuner you want and they will sometimes supply their house tunes, whatever they are. Some are good and some are better depending on the shop tune and your GT's engine and your local driving conditions.
Do you have a "U"niversal Predator or a CL part number Predator? Just check your firmware revision number and compare it to the latest version on the Diablo website. If yours is older download the latest version for your Predator's part number and update your Predator. The trick is that you must follow the instructions exactly. Generally you need to restore your original Ford tune back into the car FIRST then update the Predator and then copy your original Ford tune back to the Predator and then flash the car with the latest version of the whichever tune you want to use. Sounds more complicated than it is but it's not bad and well worth it if you have the old firmware.
It's certainly worth checking out anyway.
HTH/Cheers

I meant that I updated the ECU's tune by flahing the ECU with the Predator tuner. Yes ther is a way to upgrade the ECU program but you only want Ford to do it. My ECU program was updated with the latest version last summer and when I got the car back it ran differently than when I dropped it off. It was softer all of a sudden and lacked power when the air temps got hot.
