Default Had the GT in shop 6 time for airbag light and no fix

I don't know how much more of this crap I can take. It is really irritating me. I have had my GT in for repair 6 times because the passenger airbag light keeps coming on at random times...it even acted up on a test drive with the advisor.

They have replaced and recalibrated the seat sensor and said they got a code 1 time but he couldn't tell me which one...I am about to contact an attourney because I am tired of driving around a 2005 car in which the airbags may or may not be functioning...

What can I do short of legal action...I don't even know what kind of legal legs I have

Not sure what kind of Lemon laws you have in Al but here in CA if you try to have it fixed more than 3 times with no success, your entiltled to a new vehicle. Check with your state's business bureau.

oops...thats should have been Knoxville, TN...oh well

I had tossed that idea around...and maybe it would apply since it is a safety issue...I will look into that further

I have noticed it more when there is someone in the passenger seat, but it also does it when the seat is empty

I called customer service today to get a dipute resolution package mailed to me. They called the dealer and he said that I had the car in multiple time but they could not duplicate the problem.

The scustomer servce rep tols me that and I gave him the name of the tech that saw it happen on a test drive...he called an talked to the tech and he rememberedd...not to mention the video proof I have of multiple malfunctions.

So we will see how this turns before we go legal route with lemon law stuff

Calling Ford Customer service is the right thing to do. I had a problem too. I called Ford Customer service when I felt I was not getting support from my dealer. The next day my dealer showed renewed interest in my problem. Very good for documentation purposes. They document everything. They ended up buying back my car & building me a new one. MSRP to MSRP. The diff was 95 bucks. They eat depreciation. Funny thing is, the problem also exists in the new 2006 mustang GT. Bummer.

What problem did you have and did you go to the dispute resolution board?

My 2005 had a problem with pinging on 87 octane fuel. Any 87 octane fuel. I had it to my dealer multiple times as the manual said it is not recommended that you run any higher than 87 octane. I was concerned about damage over time. My dealer tried lots of things, but could not fix it. I continued to schedule appointments to have it fixed. Finally they called out an engineer from Ford to investigate. He recommended the dealer try some things and said that if the car is still pinging in 30 days he would come back out. After a month and a half, I called the Ford customer service center, who is useless for anything but documenting the problem you are having and notifying your dealer that someone is displeased with the service they are receiving. The very next day, my dealer called and said the engineer was coming out to see my car again. I sat down with the engineer and my service manager with a prepared list of questions, most of which the engineer answered to my satisfaction. The result of the meeting was this. We can't fix your car, but we (the engineer) wants me (the customer) to be happy with my new car because Ford is not doing well right now and they need all the repeat business they can get, so he offered me a new car or a free extended warranty. The Ford engineers have the power to make these decisions. I took the car. They expedited the build process, and it was serialized just a week or so after the final approval. It was agreed by all in my meeting that they could not recommend higher than 87 octane, but I would use whatever octane level was required to stop the pinging. It was agreed that I would run whatever octane level is necessary to stop the pinging and that my doing so would absolutely not void my warranty and they would have no way of telling what octane level I was running anyway. That's my story in a nutshell. The new car is great. Lots of improvements for 2006. Runs good on 89 octane (BP). Pings like mad on 87 octane (BP). The point is that you should try to get a Ford engineer involved with your problem, especially that yours is a potential safety issue.
