anyone running these.interested in the setup at brenspeed, with the factory size drilled rotors(front and rear),ss brake lines, hawk pads, and fluid for $770.thanks
I ordered the package w/out the rotors but was a big backorder on the stuff. Not sure how it is now, but that was a month ago.
Ended up piecing my setup from 2 other places. Those SS hoses are a pain in the arse to find for the 05+!!
But the Hawk pads, SS hoses, and simular brake fluid is great. I upgraded because of a road course I was running. Setup worked great even with stock rotors.
Everyday driving is fine. Ive only had the pads make a small squeek twice, other than that, silent, great braking ability, and very little pedal effort to make the car stop.
Only downside is the brakedust is about 10x worse than stocks.
Don't know much about the stoptech stuff. I ended up going with a piece together system myself.
Generic rotors, that were slotted (not drilled). The drilled stuff is pretty prone to cracking unless the holes are chamfered.
I went with the EBC red pads. I have gone with the Hawks in the past but have heard very good thing about the EBC's. EBC was cheaper and I could get them faster.
Basically, new sloted rotors all the way around and the pads = $480.00 not bad.
I managed to burn through my old pads & get into the rotors after 9 laps at mid ohio. Not good. I am ready next time.
Did anyone take off the dust shields? I think it should help with cooling especially on the rear?
Lastly, has anyone seen any brake air ducts besides the Kenny Brown? I can't seem to find any.
I use stop tech on my road race car with ebc reds and they are great. As good as brembo but a lot less, $2200.00 for the fronts. Never use crossed drilled as mentioned above, they are for car shows only. Get the slotted rotors.

Somebody better tell Porsche and Mercedes they have it wrong.[/quote] This is exactly why they use the cross drilled - for LOOKS- And look at the reliability ratings for the Mercedes, always near the bottom. Of all my track events I have never seen a Mercedes there, guess they dont want to be towed home. Most of the track Porsches I see have upgraded to the slotted rotors. In fact for performance and reliability, it is asking for trouble to compete with cross drilled. Fine bling for the street I guess.
This has the making of a classic forum monster argument..... Slotted VS. drilled.
For me it will always be slotted for the track. Now as for drilled. Not all drilled crack. The main problem with drilled rotors cracking is poor craftmanship. Drilled rotors will last even in track conditions if. 1. they chamffer the holes 2. debur the holes. 3. make sure they are drilled in the correct place. Anyone can take some rotors and drill holes. But if you don't take other steps to ensure you releive the stress risers from crisp machined edges, heat cycling, and pressure will take over to crack your rotors.
ANYONE KNOW WHERE I CAN GET SOME DUCTS FOR THE FRONT BRAKES???
I've had good luck with slotted...less brake fade...but i never had a set of cast rotors with holes...only drilled and they look great...but they didnt hold up...I would go slotted for performance purposes..and drilled for looks.

What else did you change besides the rotors - calipers and/or pads too?
I take it there was quite an improvement.
Thanks in advance. :thumbsup

Yes, i went with 14 inch rotors, hawk pads, Brembo calipers and SS brake lines, aftermarket master cylinder with bias spring and motul fluid. That car would stop ! not on a dime, but a nickel..hahha

Thanks - I'll probably end of sticking with smaller rotors since I am only going to go up 18" on my rims. Appreciate the info.

I have a set of rear powerslot rotors that I just took off the car so I could install the SSBC rear kit. They only have 3K miles on them, so if anybody is interested send me a PM with an offer. I need to get them a good home =)
