Default Fords CAI LOST 4 HP, August 06' MM & FF

I'm beginning to see why there are no takers to my Tunable Induction vs. Steeda CAI challenge.
The new Drag Pack CAI, w/ 91 tune LOST 4 HP on the dyno.
August 06' MM &FF page # 160.

They related the tune quite fat @ 12.2-12.8 !!

And this was WITH the new 90 meter!!!!!!!

Default Let me get this straight...

So what you are saying is that this $600-some modification actually gives 4 hp less than a stock GT?

I should look at that article closely, because I was seriously considering buying that CAI as a first upgrade.

I consider 12.8-13.1 optimum. They noted that A/F @ 12.2-12.8 which isn't that far off.

drag pack includes a 4.10 gear, so it will make the car feel a lot different.

The gear change did net some 1/4 mile improvement.

They've got both dyno run graphs in the article.
Steedas tunes are probably a little better but there isn't much room left to go with the A/F @ 12.2 - 12.8 now.

You're going to have to go a looooooong way to see +30. Or even + 15.

I read the article yesterday, and they sent the dyno pull test results to <quote> "Ford Racing guys who told us our results were not representative of what they've seen, and they are working on a solution to the issue."<unquote>

After a gear change, new headers and a shifter etc. etc. the 1/4 mile time increased....but with just the CAI and tune, it looks like performance was lowered, although it may just be an isolated case with this test car. Hmmmm.....

Thumbs up

Not replacing the factory TB pipe retains a restriction, until proven otherwise!!

Makes you wonder what the gains/loss was with the smaller meter.

Go with the TI stepped 95mm/100mm/115mm airflow for great gains along with great tunes.

And 'same day' tuner support.
