Default FAO: People with CAI, Steeda cmrc deletes, UDP's and custom tune !!

Hi there

Was interested to find out what kind of performance other people are getting with similar mods to myself.

My car has:-
Demolet/Tunable Induction CAI
Saleen UDP's
Steeda cmrc deletes plates
Stock 3:55 manual gears

Using Bamachips Octane 93 Race tune.

Since I installed the CMRC delete plates I had some issues with my tunes from Doug. Which since have been fixed but unfortunately the tunes no longer feel quite as responsive on the throttle or pull as hard.

So I was wondering what tunes other people are running with same or similar mods to myself and what 1/4 mile and RWHP results they have got?

Next week-end I am going to the dyno-shop to see what power my car is producing so will be interesting to know if I am running well or not making the right power. I am also hopeful to get some performance times from my car using G-Meter soon.

Thanks

Gibbo

my setup is the same except for 3.73 gears and c&l intake.i got my tune from mike troyer and it was dead on the money as far as air fuel ratio and drivabilty.got some tunes from doug also and had a problem with some of them throwing a lean code when trying to lower the idle down.his horsepower tune and mikes tune seem to be the same but there is only so much you can do to a tune and be safe. but a big differance in power and driveabity with the automatic with either tune.

Hi there

I think my main issue was the tunes, not the plates themselve. Now the cars computer has re-learnt to Dougs new tunes the car seems to still pull just as well form down low. Even in 3rd gear from as low as 1800-2000rpm it will push you back in your seat and pulls strong. So I'd says the plates have not lost any low-down torque just make the drivability slightly different. However past 4000rpm the car really screams, it pulls very hard upto redline.

Would you recommend the plates, I have heard both ways??

Hi there

Well my view on car/engine tuning is the more air you can get into the engine as quickly as possible with the ability to get it out quickly will improve horsepower and make the engine more responsive.

You have a CAI with tune from bamachips which would have given you a great boost in both horsepower and drivability.

The plates will improve your horsepower above 4000rpm no doubt and will slightly change the drivability of the car, not for the worse just different.

I got mine from Lethal performance for $280 so they are not an expensive modification but are one you are more likely to see results on the dyno rather than actually feel the power. My car certainly pulls stronger above 4000rpm and now my tune has re-learnt its just as strong down below too.

Also the plates are one of the harder mods to fit, you have to be extremely careful and take your time.

If I was you though I'd first contact Doug about his RACE TUNE, give it a try you will love it. Also why don't you start filling up with a higher Octane fuel and then get Doug to get you a tune for that as the benefits will be very good. Then if you still want more then go for the Plates.

Hello Giddo,
It looks like I have the same basic mods, except that I am still running the 87 tune. My dyno was 300 rwhp and 320 torque. A bubby of mine also had the same setup, but went with a 93 tune. He put down 327rwhp/340tq (before he went kenne bell on me.)
