Default 2006 GT Roof question

Hi everyone, I just picked up a black GT premium coupe yesterday; it is a very fun car. I have a question for all of you. I was caught in the rain this morning and noticed a pinging sound on the roof. When I got home and parked the car I tapped the roof and it sounded hollow, like there is no insulation between the roof and liner. I have never experienced this in any other car that I have owned. Is this normal? If it is that is fine, I can live with it, but if it is not I guess I need to go back to the dealer.

Thanks,

Chris

I havent noticed that in any of my s197's, might want to keep an eye on that.

I haven't noticed it either but I try not to drive her in the rain if possible. I'll have to pay closer attention next time.

The roof on our cars is not really sound proofed. So they sound a bit tinny in the rain.

But I look at it as, unless it really bothers me, I am going to leave it alone. As the car may not be as quiet as an M3.

BUT, I wouldent want it to be, and it weighs the same and is larger in every dimension and has a heavier drivetrain I believe.

Ya, same with me. Went to work last week in the rain. I got in the parking lot with it raining hard. Very noisy on the roof. I leaned the seat back and closed my eyes waiting for the noise to go away. A few minutes later, the noise subsided quite a bit but never went away. I looked at my windshield and was surprised to see it barely sprinkling. I would say Ford is saving weight by not insulating.

My personal opinion is anything to keep the center of gravity low. Less weight up high is a good thing.

Now why did Ford do this??? Well, to save money.
