Default GT Strut Braces

What Strut Braces have you installed? How much did it help? Was the difference noticeable? Which braces clear engine covers? Has anybody installed a strut brace on a GT with a Saleen Supercharger? I am getting ready to get started on my 06 GT and I plan to eventually get a Saleen S/C in a few years, but am really interested in getting a strut tower brace. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Yeah, I saw that thread, but no adressess a Saleen supercharger. I didn't hang on a post to that thread because all anyone was talking about was the strange brace. Its great that others have gotten the Strange Brace to fit over a cover, but what about other manufacturers? How about BMR, Edelbrock, or FRPP? Do they rub on a cover? I would like to get a cover (waiting to see what the '07 Ford one looks like) but plan to eventually install a Saleen Supe and don't want to waste money on a strut brace if a.) Doesn't make any diff on a hardtop GT and b.) Won't clear future mods.

Nor sure about the supercharger but I called BMR and they said their brace will not clear the intake cover. Here's what the '07 cover looks like.

They are purely cosmetic. New Mustangs don't need them. They're built stiff to begin with.

I have heard that. A brace makes a noticable difference in a vert, but I have not heard from anyone with a coupe who said that they could tell a difference with a strut brace installed. I just ordered a Ford engine cover, so I'm thinking I may pass on a strut brace anyways. No point in adding weight if it is not going to be of any benefit.

As an aside, the factory Mustang Grand Am racecars do not use strut tower braces.

I bought the Steeda billet brace. It clears the midwest plenum covers and looks good but very pricey. I painted a victory flag pattern on mine just for the hell of it I did not feel any difference with it on but over years of diving into corners, it may help keep the cars rigidity. Doesnt matter though, next year the strut comes off and the S/C goes on!!

As I posted before, I have an '06 vert and the brace didn't seem to make any difference ........

I personally think they do make a difference.
Any obvious way to stiffen a chassis seems to makes sense. As long as the "brace" doesn't cost too much it's probably a neat idea. For street city driving it may not enhance your experience, but for spirited curvy roads or auto-xing it will.
Read this article.

Try it for a while and take it off for a while. I'd bet you notice a differnece.
Each to his own.
