Ok you auto fans here is a question for you.
The Ford TV Comercial shows a guy doing burnouts with his GT.
I know it is a stick, but what about us Auto Guys?
I cant get it to do it with or without TC on.
Power breaking is a bad deal all the way around.
The car just digs in and launches which is a good thing.
But the Showoff factor is still a high priority.
Any Auto Fans got any input?
I've done one just to see if it would, hold the brakes, take it to 4k, smoke em'. It won't hurt anything if done in moderation. I have a CAI and tune, but it shouldn't matter.

Hey, a little brake torque burnout is way easier on your ride than a 4-6k clutch dump. I've blown more pressure plates, throw out bearings and clutches in younger days then I can remember. I had a shop just for that reason. "haha here comes Sonny again". 1st thing the shop owner would do after installing the new setup is go out front and do a nasty burnout to make sure it was OK. Man that dude could shift.
Just hold the brake enough to stop you from rolling away too far. But I wouldnt do it often with a stock transmission. I do it but every now and then but my tranny is beefed up to take 700hp of abuse so I figure the occasional burn out is not going to hurt it. The brakes and tires on the other hand, well thats a different story.
Just hold the brakes down and give it give it lots of gas.
You can also get line locks for the front brakes.
In the 70s, when the first gas crunch hit, I bought a '66 Beetle to go for parts (given the Camaro got 6 mpg). My friends laughed at me. So I installed a line lock and smoked a set of tires on Friday night, to the point where the smell made them puke beer. The car was stock (and rear-engined). "Cheater" they cried!
My friends came up with new rules for the game. No brakes! No dumping the clutch. Just mash it! If they don't break loose (and we ran those really wide tires back then), you're back under the hood. Wish we knew about drifting back then!
At the track I just roll through the burn out box and nail it and it breaks loose every time. TC on or off - no difference. Of course, I don't think my tires are very good for straight line stuff.

You need to buy a tune from Brenspeed or one of the other main "tune sellers".
I'm still breaking in my engine, so I don't want to go try this yet. But shouldn't the TC stop burnouts?
It allows a certain amount of "play time" before it warns you. It doesn't allow extended burnouts but they aren't necessary for street tires on the track anyway.
