Default Georgia Emissions and Performance Exhaust

I have really been wanting to do long tube headers, a catted x-pipe, new exhaust, CAI and a new tune for my 05 GT and have been reading that all of that may not pass emissions. Well, I did a search on Google and found the following website that is specific to Georgia's emissions inspections.

http://www.cleanairforce.com/emission.htm#whattests8

It appears that they do not do a visual inspection for vehicles that are 1996 or newer.

I just thought this might be helpful for those members here from Georgia. I looked for this information on the forums and read a lot of stuff, but this seemed to answer the question of whether or not it would hurt you to have this stuff installed.

Now, I'm no professional, so don't blame me if you do it and fail, but common sense tells me that if they only do an SBD2 test and a gas cap test and everything tests fine, then there wouldn't be any way for them to know that the modifications are even there.

If anyone knows for sure what the answer is, I would greatly welcome it, but hopefully this helps with people that are possibly looking into these mods.

Here in Colorado the use the mirrors to check to see if you have converters.I ran hogged out cats but it failed and the stock cats went back on and passed. After all the emmisions hoopla is set in place after 25 years they may do away with it all together since the newer cars run cleaner and there aren't enough older car to worry about it.

Default Helo, this is Don Dixon in Norcross

From what the boys at the state told me, first, you must have all the equipment that was on your car and it working. If your car had a smog pump it better be there. Then it must pass all the tests, gas cap sealed, load and no load emissions when they put it on the dyno. A lot of the stuff you put on, they won't know what it is anyway but they will be able to tell if your missing something that is called for. I sent your reply to my friend from Stone Mountain who is dealing with the same issue. Maybe ya'll can talk about it. digger, out, If I can be of any help, hollar back

Here in Pa they do just the OBD2 test. I have LTs and Catted H pipe with the rear 02s turned off in my regular tune. I have another tune with them turned on which I load before I take it in for inspection. You do need to drive it for about 100miles to reset the computer to pass the OBD2 check.
