I was just curious if any1 noticed a change in their engine sound at high RPMS with a CAI kit? Cuz I know I get a high pitched whistling noise with the stock intake. Was interested if the sound from the mass airflow was deeper sounding.

One of the purposes of a stock airbox is to muffle intake roar. A CAI-equipped engine definitely makes more noise since the open filter offers virtually no muffling effect.

Cool...it's a good roar right? I downloaded a C&L clip of the dyno run. It really sounds mean...but I was just wondering if it really sounded like that or they did something to the exhaust in the car to make it sound loud.

Ok I don't know about a growl that most people are saying here. Let's put it this way the intake is doing what it does ... it's sucking in air ... not blowing it out (take for example ... try making a noise while sucking in air ... can you do it?). As for the growl it will be the engine noise or the exhaust ... not the intake. The only sound you will hear is when you give it gas you can hear it suck in air hard. It is noticable, but not a growl by any means. You definitely have to have the window open to hear it.

91 Jeep Cherokee. It's my piece that I have to constantly fix, but can't justify getting rid of it, even with the woman harping on me that it's a waste of money. Do you hear me yelling at her for buying towels that I can't touch, cause it's "Decorative"?

I think you're a little off but I'll try to explain. The stock air intake box is a lot more closed in. When you remove it for a more open type air intake you you are removing a baffle to the engine and can actually hear more of the mechanical noise of the engine as well as the air being sucked in,if that makes any sense. I don't have to have my widows down to hear the difference. It's quite noticeable and sounds nice. Even back in the day when we would get a car and toss the enclosed metal air cleaner housing for chrome open element type (or just flip the lid) you could hear the difference.

I agree with y C&L I can only hear it with the window down and very briefly when I first tap into the throttle or if I happen to benext to a concrete barrier. Though people have commented on the fact that mine does sound different than the others at work.

Okay, me too agree it is not a growl but there is a sucking/swiching sound coming from the filter (starting further in of course.) I also think the more open filters on CAIs create some of that sound while letting the air through... it's not a growl, it's ppffffft at revs...

Same here...I like to just play with the throttle to hear the C&L suck in air...Between that and my Flows, Who needs the Shaker!!!
