Well I finally got my car back. After waiting an eternity for my computer to be shipped back they finally installed it and tuned it today. I don't know how this guy did it but he is a strictly Diablo tuner and the was able to tweak the Saleen tune. Im running 406 at the wheels and according to him, as the blower breaks in it will work better . Does any body know if there is any truth to this?? I also contacted JDM and wow!!! They wanted to take me for a ride.....In order to use their tune I had to buy the MAF...39# injectors...CAI....a different pully...and pay for the reflash. That was over $1000, the thing that I did learn was that every shop has a different approach to modding the new stang. For now I am extremely happy with my car and plan to keep it this way for a while. (while I gather some more $$$$ anyway) Thanks to every one who helped out or gave their opinions, I still have alot to learn but hey you have to start somewhere right?
Taking you for a ride implies that you would not be getting what you pay for. I 'm sure that would not be the case with JDM. If their prices are a little high on an item or 2 you can find elsewhere cheaper that's another story.
As far as what you have described their price on a pulley at $149 is reasonable as is their price of $200 for their CAI. 39# injectors are $405.00 from them and are a direct fit while the ones on ebay for $360.00 new are not. I can't remember what the 90mm Maf costs but it's in line with everyone else.
You probably need a couple of more things in your list such as the wiring harness adapter for the maf, a new belt, and probably the HT0 sparkplugs.
JDM has tuned over 400 Saleen equipped S197 to date. I met them 1 year ago at FFW Epping and at the time they were doing 11.63 in the 1/4mile with the mods you describe with a 3.8" pulley on 4.10 gears drag radials on a full weight car.
They're now down to 10.74 on their full weight 06 Saleen with a stroker motor and I think it was 10.97 on their stock motor.
There were aproximately 20 customer lightnings at Epping last year and they run flawlessly.
I have put my money where my mouth is and have ordered the Saleen with the JDM upgrades plus the C&L Racer inlet tube plus the GT500 pumps FPDM and wiring harness and a host of other goodies. The reason you need the injectors is that they are maxed out at around 400hp. The same goes for our stock maf at around 425hp and if you want to go big it's another $900 for the Gt500 fuel upgrades. This should put me in the area of 485rwhp with my LT headers.
I'm all for saving money but to go big you have to pay to play. I also purchased the GI Joe 8 Rib Pulley kit for the later push to real big HP.
There are many people on this and other forums who will swear by JDM as there are many west coast guys who will swear by Adam at ST Motorsports.
I made my decision to go with the Saleen over the Kenne Bell because of my being 6 hours away from JDM and could have my car tuned on their dyno by Jim if the need arises. In this game service and support are everything.
I have heard too many stories of people losing 2,3 and even 4 months of driving pleasure because they couldn't get their car to run properly.
Never mind the downtime that can arise if heaven forbid you blow the thing up.
I will receive my kit next weekend in Epping Nh. and we'll see how long it'll take me to be up and running. I'll keep you all posted.

ranchero; What JDM tried to push on you is not a bad thing... He cannot tune from a distance if he doesn't know what's wrong. But he can send you his upgrade package that he have the tune for. You should really get some injectors at least, you guys make me nervous driving around with stoickers...
MS; Do you have two tuners? The one that came with the blower and then one that you bought? Why wouldn't Saleen save your stock tune? I mean you should be able to tune back to stock at your own...??

I use to have two tuners (SCT programmers). I was having problems with SCT tunes or it's programmer. Adam is my third tuner, long story short. When I first started out with SCT it did save my stock tune, but lost it due it the programmer having problems. Then I had to get another SCT tuner, so I lost my factory tune.
The one problem with Diablo at that time was it would not work if your car was re-flashed by another programmer. Adam figured that out and we had the car re-flashed by Ford. Diablo programmer works great then and my car has been tuned with Diablo.
Glad you are happy with the car now. That being said, JDM certainly was not trying to take you for $$$. As KJ said before, you really need 39lb injector's at the very least. I know it's difficult to fathom after you spent 5k on the blower that Saleen didn't include everything that was needed, but they didn't. Do you have a dyno sheet to post from your tuning session? I'd be curious to see. Again, not trying to burst your bubble, just giving advice from someone who's had FI before this car and went through the identical situation you are in now. I was blind and under the assumption when I ordered the Saleen that they would absolutley include upgraded injector's. Obviously I was not happy when the blower came w/out them. The one thing you always want plenty of with FI is fuel. Don't leave her thirsty man!!!
did you install a 255 fuel pump in it for added fuel flow and pressure? what pump are you running now?

Your problem is that you need to re-flash the car back to the stock tune (factory tune that is). If you tune the car with SCT and then try to tune the car with Diablo, it won't work. I have also seen this first hand on my car. I had my car tuned with SCT and then went to Diablo, the diablo programmer wouldn't work. Adam and I took the car to Ford and had it re-flash and everything was fine after that. Not to rain on your tuner, but a good tuner would had figured that out. Saleen locks their factory tune so that Diablo can not tap into it... WRONG!!!! My 05 mustang GT with a Saleen S/C is tuned with Diablo. I will bet you $50 that you can tune your 05 mustang with the Saleen S/C with Diablo if you get it re-flash from Ford first.
[Edit; kj]
Let me/ us know if you re-flash your car from Ford and get the Diablo to work.
Dear Msgt46270,
Let me know what the outcome of this issue that Adam is trying to solve (I'm just curious)...
We don't have a guy like Adam around here and as I previously stated "Adam must have a secret to tuning with the Diablo" because he was able to tune your Saleen w/this tuner...
You should really appreciate having a guy like Adam in your area...
I had to spend $400.00 for a new tuner which could have been spent elsewhere just to solve my problem that you got solved easily with Adam's help...

Best of Luck to you... Adam's the MAN!!!
D
I bet you bought the SCT and was able to tune your car with no problems. The SCT doesn't have the problem with re-flashing with the Saleen tune, just the Diablo.
We are lucky to have Adam in our area, well I have to drive 120 miles one way to see him. Adam is my third tuner and a good tuner is hard to find. Adam has tuned a few 05+ with Diablo. Adam doesn't give up on the tunes and when they don't work right he does get upset and tries even harder to figure out what's going on. I left his shop last night at about 9:30 p.m. and he was still there working on another customers car. One night he was working on my car till 1:30 a.m. One of Adams customers travel over 800 miles round trip for Adam to tune his car, and that guy was real happy with the results.
I have to agree "Adam is the MAN".
Adam had been making adjustment to my tune and didn't charge me. I felt bad and when I was at his shop last week he was talking about needing another computer for the dyno. Well, I have a spare computer and rebuilt it for him and gave it to him yesterday.
I told him last night to go ahead and install a new torque converter. He asked me what I wanted, and I don't know much about them. I told him put in what you think, you know my car and you know what kind of person I am. So it's up to him on what he does. I know he'll do whats best for the car.
Let get off the soap box.
I have heard that blowers (belt or exhaust driven) need some breaking in... They, supposedly, get a bit loser and smoother in the gearings and bearings.... this is also why the 'noise' (music to me) gets a bit louder after 1,000 or so miles...??
Dunno... as I said, have heard it before, from ppl in the know how...

Well I'm going to get a second opinion from a really good tuner that I have dealt with before. He said he would put my car on the dyno first and then figure out where to go from there. He said I definitley need the 39# injectors and a "boost a pump". I'm going to set up an appointment on monday and we'll see where I'm at. I'm actually looking forward to seeing the difference in dyno read outs.

So your tuner wants you to get the 39# Injectors and a BAP plus you'll need a tuner such as an sct or diablo plus dyno time.
That's easily $1,000.00
I'd say he's taking you for a ride.
