I just dropped my 05 off at the dealer due to it leaking gas (from the top of the tank, running all the way down to the pass lower control arm) and CEL p0442. Anyone else have this problem??

In all seriousness, this happened to another guy that I think had his fuel sender unit changed by the dealership. It was so bad, Ford Roadside wouldn't tow the car from his house until the Fire Dpt gave the O.K. They didn't. Said it was too dangerous. The dealership sent another company to pick up the car....Kinda scary!!!

the ford service dept suggested that i have it towed in. I didn't, and when i got there the service guy said he could smell the gas just standing near it. I told him that he should try sitting inside the car! (Oh, it also only has 8,909 miles)

ok, so i picked my car up today (8-9) and they said they had to drop the tank, and replace a bad O-ring on the left side fuel pump. I filled the tank all the way up after leaving the dealer and no more leaks! Maybe my car was built on a Friday?

As an FYI you don't have to drop the tank to replace the o-ring they are talking about. If you take out the rear seat you have access holes to gain access to both sides of the tank.

Ditto. The other guy mentioned in this thread said the dealer kept telling him they had to drop the tank. I still don't understand why.
I have had my fuel pump out a couple of times and always done it from the back seat area.

Some people are like Slinkies. They're really good for nothing. But they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs.
I was pretty sure someone here said you could get to the pumps by taking the back seat out! I still don't believe they would drop the tank since it would involve dropping the exhaust and pulling the driveshaft.
05sonicstang No, i didn't take it to Brooklyn Ford. They recently did a tune up on my dads 97 F150 and left the back two spark plugs finger loose. (Which caused it to run like crap). It was funny because my parents we're going to buy a Five Hundred from them, but their crappy service cost them a sale.
