Arrow Body Kit Paint Job & Install - What's the deal?

Hi all. I plan to purchase a body kit in the very near future for my Tungsten '07. Before I hit the shop, I wanted to know what I should expect so I don't get screwed over. I'm gonna have a new bumper put on with wiring of 4 lights + side scoops + rear valence. Each one needing painting and install.

To those who had this kind of job done before:
What kind of price tag should I look at to have those parts painted?
Did you pay install at a flat rate by the part or variable per hour? If so, how much?
What questions are a must ask?

The more replies the better. Thanks in advance guys

A fixed rate is the only way to go. This way there are no surprises. If the body shop doesn't know how much time it should take him to do the job then it's obvious he shouldn't be doing it.

Let's not forget that there are many different quality paint jobs out there. The things to look for in other jobs they did are if there's enough flex agent to prvent cracking on bumpers ect. Dust, orange peel, fisheyes, panel alignment.

Make sure you tell them if you are expecting perfection. This way there are no surprises when you go to pick up the car.

Its not gonna be cheap. I did mine in my friends garage. First, i had a front bumper, side skirts, rear valance and wing to pre fit and prep. Then we bought the materials from the paint store. Tungsten grey was $112 a quart, and i needed about 2 quarts just to be safe. I bought 1 quart of black for my stripes and 1 gallon of PPG clear. Masking paper and tape and everything cost me 700 bucks including all materials. Most body kits will use double sided tape, but I ended up using tape and a flexible silicone glue to set the kit in place. I have found double sided tape doesnt hold up in the long run...esp if you live in a hot climate.

Bottom line had the kit fitted, prepped the kit and wing, painted them....installed the kit and painted the stripes and had the whole car re cleared. It was about 80 hours worth of work but my car has a thicker coat of clear then stock. We figured it would be about a 3K job if not more if i had it done by a shop. There are good shops and really bad ones....so do your research.
