Question. If the front hood stop is adjusted to low, causing the front corner of the hood to dip below the fender line, will that cause the rear of the hood to rise correspondingly above the fender?
The rear hood height would only be adjustable by shimming under the hood hinge.
Since the hood pivots on the hood hinges, and since the hood hinges are so far aft on the hood, there would be no noticeable change in the height position at the rear of the hood.
The front adjusters affect only the front lip of the hood.
helicfii is right mrV but I see what you're sayin and yes it could raise the rear of the hood but not noticble. I was lookin at my hood this evening and it sits up a good 1/8 above the fenders in the back probably due to the thickness of this hood. That really sucks your hood is too tall across the back. Like you say you are basicaly screwed there...I dont have a rubber seal of any kind across my cowl. I looked at the underside of my hood and its not rubbing no where across the cowl. I really have no idea how to adjust your hood there. you cant if its to thick I willl ask one of the body guys tomorrow if he has any ideas..thing is this is new body style car and no one is all that familur(Spelling) with them yet. I dont drive my car everyday but I'll drive it tomorrow and we'll see what we can find out

MickMach , you seem to know a thing or two about body work (or anyone with bodyshop experience) I have two questions for you (or your commarades), first, if I need to move the top/front part of the fenders 1/8" each inward, will the S197 allow that much of an adjustment without misaligning the bumper or the doors?
Next question, on a fiberglass hood, can underneath side be shaved or sanded up to 1/4" without compromising the sturctural integrity of the hood?
If these two issues can be resolved, I may yet still use my ram air hood.
yes on the 1st question mrV not a problem..that will be fine.
Im no fiberglass guy..I hate that itchy crap. Can you put your CD hood back on and see if its hitting your cowl all the way across or is it just on the outer corners...If its just on the outer edges..i dont see why you cant take off a 1/4" without hurting the structural integerity. That seems to be your only answer....sucks but you're right as you need to get the back of it worked out before goin any farther

That is exactly what the guy who made the hood said. He put extra fiberglass on the under side back area so it would be stronger for transport because corners where breaking off during shipping. He said sand the under side.
I intend to put it back on this weekend. I need a second pair of hands and wont have one until Saturday, sooner if possible. I will thoroughly examine the rear of the hood. If it is just the corners, I may be. Unfortunately, I do not remember when it was at the body shop if it was just the corners or the whole back end resting on the cowl.
Okay, assuming I can resolve the raised rear of the hood issue (still checking that issue out), how do I actually go about slotting the fender holes to move the front top of the fenders in 1/8"? I do not to need to take the fender off to do that, do I? Is it a matter of simply drilling a hole into the fender, but stop drilling once I am through the fender? Sounds easy, but am I overlooking something?
I just heard from the seller, hood4sale, they claim that up to half the thickness of the hood can be sanded/shaved without compromising structural integrity. So now I just need to get that hood back on and determine if this project is salvalageable.
How are going to stregthen it under the cowl? If everyone is right, I am just shaving the hood at the rear corners, I am hoping not to touch the center section.
Talking about sanding fiberglass...as I have never done this, what grit of sand paper should I use to first "shave" the fiberglass and then to smooth the fiberglass? What about protective gear? Should I be wearing a mask, gloves & long sleeve shirt? If our hunch is correct regarding the corners, I may try to save a few bucks and do a lot of the prepping myself. Are there any fiberglass experts out there that can give me some advice on prepping a fiberglass hood?
