I'd like to mildly lower my GT, but I don't want to lose the ass-high stance that it presenty has (muscle-car, right?). I noticed that most lowering spring kits reduce rear height more than the front,a dn I'm assuming this is to level the car out a little.
Anybody know of a kit that lowers the front & back an even amount? I am only looking for a 1" drop- no more!
Also- will I be okay with only a standard front end alignment after installing 1" lowering springs? Thanks.
If you can not find a kit that drops the front and rear equally, you may be able to combine kits. For example use the Eibach Pro Kit for the rear and then use the Eiback Sprotline for the front, your drop for front and rear would be real close.
Actually the Pro Lines don't level the car out. The stock spacing is not the same front and rear and even with the different drop values the car still stays nose low. Heres some old pics of mine before and just after the drop. I added 18 inch wheels at the same time. I love the "muscular" stance.

I have to agree, even though in th epics, mine looks leveled, in reality, there is still a slightly larger gap in the rear then in the fron. So even with my drop (Eibach Pro), I still have a slightly lower fron than rear.
I myself would like to lower just the rear of my 05 GT just a bit to level it out. I also went to 18's all the way around, any ideas on how much to lower with out bottoming out and just making the car level?

Ford Racing will sell just the rear springs. I recall someone on here has done that and it leveled the car nicely. The only problem with that is it makes the GT emblems noticeably crooked since they are installed with the factory rake taken into account.

Nobody's said anything about the alignment yet. This is my biggest concern. Do you have to get camber and caster plates? Will normal shops not do the alignment because the ride height has been altered? I worked for a Goodyear shop for 2 years and they wouldn't touch a car if it was lowered. That might just be that shop, but I just was wondering what everyone elses experience has been.

Ironically speaking, now I remember when I saw this car, it was yours. I guess I saw a pic of awhile ago, I liked it so much that it is part of my screen saver. In fact I think the pic of your car inspired me to lower my car. Nice job. So here is what mine looks like with the Saleen kit.

You can easily find an alignment shop which will align your lowered car. Your case is the first I've read of one that wouldn't. Many lowered cars are able to achieve desired camber with the stock hardware in place. If additional camber is needed (more likely the lower the car gets) you can go with the camber plates. Or a cheaper easy solution is camber bolts. I bought a pair for under $20 on ebay. Don't worry about caster. It will be o.k.

My car is lowered even because they are adjustable.. more expensive but you get the results you want...and if you dont like it, you can always change it.
