Default Reverse the idiot gauges

Lots of other posts about the idiot gauges exist. (Idiot gauge is where the needle stays in one spot if everything is within normal parameters.)

But I haven't seen anyone address the possible reversal of the idiot part. Since they are controlled by computer (this is someone else's assertion), which computer is it and can it be tweaked to make the gauges work like non-idiot gauges?

Has anyone seen the output that the computer tracks? Are real values for water temp and oil pressure there? Are maximum values stored?

Default ...

good idea! I did go with aftermarket gauges but nice thought! I wish I had thought about that before I went aftermarket.

If it helps anyone figure the OEM water temp gauge out...its sensor is in the oil pan.

I really think (since I have a stick car too) that the Speedo and tach need to be reversed !!!!

I slid around under the car, looking for places to hook up my oil & tran fluid temps. I saw the sensor in the pan and figured, "rats, if only I could have gotten the temp from that." But you say it is water temp? How is that?

Really, I think it has to be oil temp. Sure would like to know if the computer would shut down the engine with a high oil temp.
