I discovered a hidden flaw with having a lowered car with a chin spoiler. I had to clean my vert for a show Sunday so I moved PARIS to the street to clean her up and discovered a nail and a slow leak in the right rear tire. It's pretty close to the outside edge so most likely I'll have to buy a new tire. Anyway - I had pre-registered PARIS for the Saddleback Mustang show on Sunday so I contemplated switching NICOLE's shoes with PARIS. Well NICOLE would have nothing to do with that. Thats when I discovered that niether of my floor jacks fit under the side of the lowered coupe. I hope I never have a flat on the freeway. I could slide it in and jack on the LCAs in the rear but there was no way I could jack the front because of the chin spoiler. I scrapped the idea and re-aired the tire and it's holding. I'm taking it to Discount Tire today for the verdict. Has anyone else with a lowered car had a problem with this? Anyone ever used the factory jack? Is there a low profile floor jack available?
BTW - PARIS shined at the show and brought home another first in class.

Hey 2 Horses, Congratulations on your show win and thanks for bringing the jack issue to our attention.
I noticed as I was changing the oil last week that there was not a lot of clearance, of course that was with full tires. I think with the 20" wheels I may still be ok, as the sidewalls are small but I'll check.
A solution that may work is one of those inflatable air jacks that work from the exhaust gases. Here's a pic from Amazon UK website
06 GT Tungsten with quicksilver stripes, Prem with red interior, FSAB, stickshift. Lightning Performance 62mm TB, WMS CAI with Ram Air box, Kooks Long Tube headers, X-pipe and Magnaflow back system. Diablo Predator tuner. Tokico D-spec adjustable shocks, Eibach Sportline springs, BMR adj panhard. Stern ST-1 Beast 20" x 8.5" & 9.5" staggered wheels in Hyperblack with Nitto 555s, 255/35 & 275/35. 12" Phat antenna.
I used a sissor jack on my lowered 06'GT.I got it high enough to run the floor jack underneath it and reversed the process when lowering.Make sure you lower your floor jack high enough so you can use the sissor jack to lower it the rest of the way.

Congrats on the trophie!
Hi Poco, I don't quite follow you. The standard Mustang jack in the trunk IS a scissor jack and collapses to about 3.5". I took a few pics and whilst I can access the lift point no problem with a full tire of air, if I have a serious flat I doubt if I'll be able to slide it in. I looked on the web but I haven't yet found a smaller one. Please let me know if you've found a good one. Thanks
Hi 2horses you must have lost quite a bit of air when you tried to change - I have almost 1" clearance with similar diameter tires and 1.5" front drop. As you say better to find this out at home and not 50 miles away.

I haven't tried the factory jack - too much junk in the trunks. When i jacked it before I had help and we lifted the car by hand high enough to get the floor jack underneath. I was just thinking with the lowered suspension and low profile tires it would be really tight trying to get any jack under the car if it had a flat on the road.
As an update - the nail is too far out to plug or patch - new 255x45x18 Hankook Ventus 104 = $172 plus mount and balance x2 if I want to wear match the rears. Also - I came home today and the right rear on the coupe was low. What are the odds the same tire would be low on both cars? I checked and didn't find anything. I think someone is jerking my chain.

I also found that once I had lowered my mustang, my standard floor jack would not fit under the chassis jack points. I bought an aluminum "race" floor jack. It is low enough to fit under, and a lot easier to carry out of the workshop.

I had this problem but in reverse with my F350 4x4 the jack was to short. I had to make a block to put under the jack so I could get the wheel off the ground. You could do the same thing build a small ramp with fiber board and and when you drive on it with your tire you have clearance for the jack. I use small ramps for the lift in the garage because the arms wouldn't go under the car.

When you say chassis "jacking points", can I assume you do not mean the points identified in the owner's manual for the factory scissor jack? If my assumption is correct, what are the chassis jacking points for an 05/06 Mustang to which you are referring? The owner's manual only specifies the scissor jack locations (like Ford does not know that many of the die-hard Mustang owners already own floor jacks, jack stands or lifts and we like to do our own work).

Thanks for the pic. You have Sportlines so yours is lower than mine. The tire was reading about 5 lbs on the gage. It's just one of those things you don't think about until you find yourself in need.
