Not sure what the race pipes run. I can't even find them on the SLP site. Think I'll leave it the way it is for now.

Hmmm.... I think I'd take everything aft of the down pipes/collectors off and shake it all out real good! A clogged muffler is not any better than the cat....

There's nothing in the mufflers since I just had both of them off. I suppose I should run something thru the overaxle pipe just to be sure. Better safe than sorry.

Yup!! That's what I say at both my jobs; Better safe than sorry!! I have also been known to say stuff like; Hmm, I'd rather be down here wondering how it is up there flying today than up there wondering how I'm gonna get us back down... Or; Hurry slowly at a fire site and I can crawl through fire and smoke, it's the falling celing that slows me down...

I found out my cats were bad also. The person working on my car told me the right side was really bad. So there is something going on with the right side of the cats. But Ford won't do anything about it if you mod your car like with a blower or headers. You know they'll say that cause it. Mine are now gutted, but I also bought another used set, so I have that for smog test. My car did better on the dyno also, I went from 410HP to 420HP/390TQ.

Were they the stock cats or aftermarket?

I think I now know why mine failed. As I explained on an earlier post, I have some serious ground clearance issues with my LTs. Even though I'm very careful, I've still hit the cats on numerous occasions exiting parking lots, speed bumps etc. I think I may have actually rattled the substrate loose by hitting it. I wish SLP could shortened the collectors, allowing the CATs to be tucked up under the chassis better.

Went ahead and pulled the mufflers and the overaxle pipes. Ran a snake through both axle pipes and they are clear. Also nothing in the mufflers that I can hear.

Yeah, and the header collectors hang really low.

So you had a set of stock cats fabricated so you can just bolt them in?

Everything I have are the stock pipes and cats, I didn't fabricate the pipe at all.

The stock cats that came with my car went bad. So I bought another set of stock cats for back up (smog). The cats that went bad are gutted. But I don't like the way the car sounds, so I need to do something to make it sound the way I want.

I get it... You have another complete h-pipe/cat setup. Being supercharged, you'd really benefit from an offroad or h/f catted-x. Bet you could squeeze 12-15 more rwhp out of it.

Update... I've had the cats off now for a couple of days and the performance improvement is night & day. Leads me to believe that the one cat had slowly been failing until it finally went completely tango/uniform this week.

It does have more HP and you can smell the exhaust without cats. I was thinking of taking off my JBAs and putting on the stock exhaust. One for the smell and the other for the sound. Just want to see if that'll help it sound better.

Don't forget if you get pulled over by the cops to turn off your motor so that he/she won't smell your exhaust if you gutted/removed your cats.
