It does have more HP and you can smell the exhaust without cats. I was thinking of taking off my JBAs and putting on the stock exhaust. One for the smell and the other for the sound. Just want to see if that'll help it sound better.
Don't forget if you get pulled over by the cops to turn off your motor so that he/she won't smell your exhaust if you gutted/removed your cats.
Good advice... I've really noticed the exhaust smell the last couple of days.
Well, after reading this thread, I went to check mine out. For anyoen that has seen my previous post, I have an 06 now,but have the parts from my 05. Which includes the JBA Long tubes and catted H-pipe. well picked them up and there was a slight rattle of BB's in there... RIGHT SIDE!
So I shook it a bit and saw 3 small pellets.. maybe 1/4" in diamter, come out of it.
So, now I am concerned. I am thinking of ordering a new non catted H-pipe and keeping this one in the event of a visual inspection. I am not sure what to do.
I mean, my car was only pushing maybe 330 to the wheels. Why the hell woudl that blow a h/f cat up?

Yes I can smell it because I know but... yea well; com'N!
Okay, next time you get pulled over don't turn your car off and see if the cop notices the smell, asks questions, does an inspection. Some cops are trained to see what is illegal on cars. When they see a few/a lot of stickers on a car, they know it has mods and something is bound to be not street legal. Most likely they won't know the cats are gutted, but they'll get you for something else for sure.
I rather play it safe and not give a reason for an inspection if I get pulled over. Besides, I said that because another person said the same thing on another forum.

CYA
I got pulled over a couple of months back when I had the SLP LMs on. I shut it down immediately since I knew I'd get nailed for excessive noise. I think I'll continue to follow the same plan.

Kyle- mine broke up because I kept bottoming-out on speed bumps, barriers etc. Did you have any ground clearance problems?
Today I was at a cops house while I was on the job. We started talking about cars and stuff. He did tell me that they do get training on what to look for on cars that have mods. I did tell him my cats were gutted and he told me that he was running straight pipes. But he did say that he could tell if the car had cats or not by the smell. He also pointed out to me that the exhaust is also more dangerous.
Some cops know and some don't.
A. I try not to get pulled over, and if I am I'll sertainly shut my car off, open both windows, turn on the interior lights and if there is time put my keys on the roof, and slowly put and keep my hands on the steeringwheel.
B. I would not tell a cop I run a wide open system...

No, because I have the JBA's. Though, there was one scratch on my converter that looks like it did hit once. I think I know when it happend, it was in a parking lot with very uneven pavement, and I though I had bottomed out the subframe when it hit.
