Default Weird Noise & Fluctuating Idle

I have an '06 GT 'vert w/ a 'matic. Two little bugaboos I have (the car only has 1200 miles and neither one happens all the time) are:

1) on starting (the car is in a heated garage), the idle will go up and down. Shut it down and restart, the problem is gone.

2) A fairly loud "click" makes itself known at random times; it happens when I'm standing still or at speed. It sounds similar to an A/C unit cycling on and off (when I have heard the noise, the A/C is not on).

So, does anyone have a clue or is it time for a trip to the stealership?

Thanks,

T

Default Me too

Don't know what the "click" is, but I've got it too. Only seem to hear it when the car is warming up though. Maybe I just can't hear it over the exhaust note...

Click could be metal pieces heating up or if your defrost happens to be on it's the a/c compressor.

Default loud click...

I get that click noise too. I opened up the hood the other day with the car running, and noticed that it happens in conjunction with whatever pulley is located below the belt tensioner. I have been meaning to check what that pulley is related to, but haven't gotten around to it yet...any suggestions?

I have an 06 Gt and have noticed any noice like that. It must be that the defrost is on or the vent is on and the a/c button is on.That would then be the noise that you are hearing. The idle problem I have but mine goes away as the car runs about 30 sec then it idles down by itself.

Like others have said - if your heat switch is to the right of OFF, the a/c will come on for defrost even if the a/c switch is off. The click is the electric clutch on the a/c pulley.
